| Hi, Lorenzo --
I guess if I were the only living being and suddenly I saw _another_,
for the very first time, without warning, I'd probably jump a foot!
Actually, as the Only Inhabitant All My Life, finding anybody else,
no matter what gender, would be a startling (to put it mildly) thing.
Of course, it also depends how old I am at the time as to what
I'd do next. If I were very young (not that used to being alone),
I'd try to make friends. If I were older, I might be more cautious
(fear of the unknown).
It might take some time after we got acquainted before the whole
business about opposite genders might have any meaning. Some things
have to be learned.

702.3 | Mark Twain | INK::GRACE | Delirium Clemens | Fri Apr 15 1988 14:57 | 15 |
| Mark Twain documents the first meeting of the sexes in the
diaries of Adam and Eve.
Very thought provoking, their trying to comprehend the meaning of
right and wrong, good and evil, and death--never having experi-
enced them. Apart from the philosophical questions posed, among other
things Eve even tries to solve the puzzle of how the milk gets into
the cow.
Believe the two diaries were published separately, and previously
unpublished sections of Adam's and Eve's *autobiographies* appear
in MT's "Letters from the Earth," edited by Bernard DeVoto.

Really, Deb, you should know by now that my visualizations
always border on the chaste!
Seriously, as Steve mentioned it could well depend on one's
age. At this point I'd be cautious yet hospitable.

Chaste? I think you meant to say that your visualizations
always bordered on the chased! (Poor Carla, always running...
well, at least it's one way to maintain a youthful image.)
But surrealously, if it were me suddenly thrust upon a woman for
the first time, I would of course notice the lack of hair on the
face, the "odd bumps" and shriller voice ('cuz she'd no doubt be
screaming louder than I would be.) If she were nude, I'd notice
what caused the bumps ("extra skin") and I'd also notice that she
would be missing things that *I* had. I do not know about sexual
arousal...Steve may be correct about that one. Fortunately, I
don't have to play this game. I think reactions in the present
day are far more entertaining.

since i would be around animals quite a bit i would most likely
consider it as another animal however... following what mankind
has done in such instances when rare finds are found...i would most
likely...
A.kill it
B.use it
C.worship it
D.all of the above
but instead of choosing one right off i would first worship it till
i was sure that it could/couldn't hurt me. Then threaten it to see
if i could domionate/kill it. i would then use it as i saw fit
untill the day i woke up and realized that being able to kill something
does not always mean you have power over it. At this time i would
a)laugh that silly idea out of my head or b)possibly consider
the thought of treating the other as an equal and accept it. If
i then chose "b" i consider that as choosing "D" from the above.
A wrapping of all the emotions of A,B,and C together.
