OVERVIEW:
This symposium is designed to provide practical, up-to-date informaiton for
the lay person or practitioner to use effectively at home or in clinical
practice. The proceeds will be donated to botanical research at Bastyr
University, National College of Naturopathic Medicine and Southwest
College of Naturopathic Medicine. We invite you to join us for a
weekend of education and inspiration.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES:
Mary Bove, N.D.
In addition to being a naturopathic physician, Mary Bove is a
Certified Midwife and graduate of the School of Herbal Medicine/
Phytotherapy in England. She was a full-time faculty member and
Chair of the Department of Botanical Medicine at Bastyr
University in Seattle from 1990 to 1993. She recently relocated
to Brattleboro, VT, where she has a thriving practice in family
medicine.
Bill Cardonna, R.Ph.
Bill combines 14 years of study and practice in natural medicine
(with degrees in Natural Health Sciences, Therapeutic Nutrition
and Massage Therapy) with an allopathic background as a
Registered Pharmacist. He is Vice President and Director of the
National Iridology Research Association. He has traveled the
country traching iridology since 1984, and has been teaching iris
analysis at Bastyr University since 1989, where he is currently
enrolled in the ND program.
John Douillard, D.C.
John Douillard is the author of 'Body, Mind, and Sport', and has
trained world class athletes including Martina Navratilova and
Billie Jean King. In 1987-88 he spent 1.5 years studying
Ayurvedic medicine in India and has since trained thousands of
medical doctors and given over 20,000 stress prevention
consultations. He has taught over 300 workshops and seminars
throughout the world and has lectured at the White House Athletic
Club.
Cascade Anderson Geller
Cascade has a life-long interest in identifying, harvesting and
preparing herbs. After her studies at Dominion Herbal College,
she has had a variety of private and joint practices with
naturopathic doctors, chiropractors and M.D.s. She has taught
courses in botanical medicine at National College of Naturopathic
Medicine for 13 years, and now teaches privately and leads herb
walks in Portland, Oregon. Her greatest joy is to pass along her
herbal knowledge to family and friends.
Rosemary Gladstar
Rosemary Gladstar is the founder of the California School of
Herbal Studies, co-founder of Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center
& Native Plant Preserve, and founder of The United Plant Savers,
an organization dedicated to replanting endangered plants back
into their native environments. She co-sponsored the
International Herbal Symposiums and taught herbalism extensively
throughout the U.S. Her experience includes over 20 years in the
herbal community as a healer, teacher, and organizer of herbal
events. Rosemary is the author of 'Herbal Healing For Women' and
of the Sage Healing Ways Herbal Series.
David Hoffman, MNIMH
David Hoffman is a British Medical Herbalist who has been in
clinical practice for 18 years. The inaugural president of the
American Herbalist Guild and a past director of the California
School of Herbal Studies, he has taught phytotherapy throughout
the English-speaking world. He is the author of eight books on
herbalism and has recently been appointed Professor of Integral
Health Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in
San Francisco.
Tori Hudson, N.D.
In 1990, Dr. Hudson won the American Association of Naturopathic
Physician's President's Award for her research in cervical
dysplasia. She is also active in research in alternative
therapies for menopause and breast cancer, and is a consultant to
the Office of Alternative Medicine at N.I.H. Her research is
presented in her book, 'Gynecology and Naturopathic Medicine'.
She is the medical director of the Portland Naturopathic Clinic
in Oregon.
William LeSassier
A clinical herbalist who has been practicing for over 20 years,
William LeSassier has lectured extensively throughout much of the
U.S. He is the founder and former director of Christo's School of
Natural Healing in Taos, New Mexico. He currently resides and
practices in New York City.
Bill Mitchell, N.C.
Bill Mitchell is co-founder of Bastyr University and is the
author of 'Naturopathic Applications of the Botanical Remedies',
1983. He is currently a member of the board of the Washington
Association of Naturopathic Physicians and teaches Advanced
Naturopathic Therapies at Bastyr University. For the past 18
years, he has had a private practice in Seattle, Washington.
Michael Murray, N.D.
Michael Murray is the author of numerous books including 'A
Textbook of Natural Medicine', 'The Encyclopedia of Natural
Medicine', 'The Healing Power of Herbs' and 'Natural Alternatives
to Over-the-Counter and Prescription Drugs'. He is the director
of research and development for Enzymatic Therapy, Inc. and has a
private practice in Bellevue, Washington.
David Winston
David Winston is the founder of Herbalist and Alchemist, Inc.,
and has a unique background which includes training in the
Cherokee, Chinese, and Western herbalist traditions. He has had
a clinical practice for 12 years, is a founding member of the
American Herbalist Guild and has been teaching seminars and
workshops on herbal medicine for 15 years.
Chu-Han Zhu, L.Ac.
Dr. Zhu comes from a family that has practiced Chinese medicine
for generations. After training in China with his father, who
was appointed a Senior Doctor of Chinese Medicine by the Beijing
Public Health Bureau, Dr. Zhu completed his post-graduate studies
and became a Certified Doctor and head of the Department of
Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing Tian Qiao Hospital. He
has been an instructor for ten years at the New England School of
Acupuncture, and is the author of 'Handbook of Chinese Herbal
Medicine'. He practices acupuncture and traditonal Chinese
herbal medicine in Newton, Mass.
OTHER:
There are optional Special Workshop Intensives being offered in Iris
Diagnosis and Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis. The fee for each intensive
is $35.00.
On Saturday evening, there will be a steel band performing for those
attending the conference.
On Sunday evening, there will be a panel discussion on Phytosterols
and Women's Health Care.
