| Re .0 (Phil):
I'm not quite sure I get the import of your question. Is it,
approximately,
"If televangelists can reach millions through television, why don't
other religions do so?"
If so, the answer is in percentages. There are more people at least
nominally Christian in the United States (which, I also presume is
the region you're bracketing) than other faiths, and only a small
percentage of them are viewers of the televangelists.
Let's assume there are 300,000 Pagans in the United States. That's
one in 800, which is a statistically insignificant figure from the
standpoint of media reach. [To make this further discouraging (and
I'm not picking on Pagans), they don't all worship the same pantheon.
So what would a station air? Graeco-Roman one week, Druidic the
next, then Egyptian?]
If you mean nonreligious "New Age" folk, they're all over the tube.
Check out any talk show.

Yes, Steve...I was referring to New Age philosophies as
opposed to general religion. Just curious to see if such
shows exist, and if they do, what impact would they have on
a society "riveted" to normal religous beliefs.
