-< Your astrological sign >-
Hi ! I am a Gemini and I love anything that has to do with Astrology.
Most people tell me that I have two personalities and I strongly
believe that at times there is someone else inside me..One minute
I feeling one way and the next minute I am feeling another way..Most
people tell me that I am a wild and crazy girl..Most people like
me because they say I am "down to earth" and courteous (not to be
conceited)..I take a great interest in art....Most people that know
me tell me I should be an artist instead of a CRR..I am known as
a sign of intellect...I like anything that has to do with the mind..
I only get mad if I feel that you are taking advantage of me..I'm
a flirt..I am attracted to Aquarius men (for what reason I don't
know)..but I am about to marry a Cancer..only because I couldn't
put up with the Aquarius anymore...I have a hardtime getting along
with an Aries (mainly Aries men)..I am very outgoing, sociable,
emotional, aggresive, motivated..and overall I like people..I like
things to run smoothly..and unfortunately I tend to run from my
problems...Are there any other Gemini out there? If not what sign
are you?

<I am so excited!!!!!!!!>
Thank you for being patient with me - I am a Scorpio and bound to
figure something out sooner or later!! Anyways - Snow - Let's get
this file going. I have known one Gemini in my life - and all that
you described yourself as - is as I remember that person!! Tell me
more.
As for me, I am a Scorpio. Almost exactly to the tee as written in
the books. Very determined, overly passionate with life itself, very
interested in the "unknown", the dark crevasses of ones mind, very
curious, I like to know all things at all times, impatient, bursting
with energy, only speak in truths..........
Anyways - I don't want to get overly carried away at this time -
What do you know about the signs - and what are you looking for
here?

they wnt to lead the pack, too jealous and possesive...As for an
Aquarius they are like butterflies..they are not loyal..they are
cheap (when it comes to money)..they are humorous..As for a Cancer
they are cold-blooded people at times and then they can be so nice
somtimes...they like a happy home...they are loyal when they are
in love..they are very attached to their mothers... they take care
of business..Kim I have never known a Scorpio..

660.12 | So - something to think about..... | PAR5::K_POTTRATZ | | Thu Feb 25 1988 17:06 | 35 |
| Well, isn't this special!! Sorry - lost my head. I just recently
picked up another book on astrological signs and there significance
in your life. Now - I do not rule my life by what the books say -
however, there is a lot to be told in those readings.
The signs of people that I have been close to have been Gemini, Pisces,
Aries, Aquarian, Cancer, Leo, Taurus, Virgo. What I have come to find
is that my most favorite sign to have as a friend - is a Pisces, my
most favorite sign to have as a lover - is a Scorpio, and then I find
I truly need Taurus signs around me. I made a huge mistake in my life
at one time - I decided to ignore what I had heard about a Virgo sign,
and married one. Worst mistake - I couldn't believe it - everything
the "books" said would drive me crazy did - it took me three years
to realize it wasn't going to work out. Unfortunetly. He was my
best friend in the world though. So what one should pay attention
to is what kind of a relationship you CAN have with each sign. Pisces
are wonderful - for friends - in my case that is . Remember there is
going to be exceptions to every rule. I love Taurus people because
they are so strong, very determined, dark and mysterious. However,
unduly matched a Scorpio and Taurus can lock heads and be at each
others throats contantly - because both are so stubborn when it comes
to certain things. Gemini's I find to be just as you have noted.
It is quite peculiar that I have only been close to one in my life.
(as a friend or in a relationship) I think that you attract to the
same kinds of signs all your life. Take a look at your friends - what
are they - your lovers - what are they - what have they been. I'm
sure you'll find they are pretty much in more one or two signs than
in others.
I will write more later - it is past the bewitching hour........

would like not to admit it, there is a telepathic link between us.
Not as much of words, but rather global concepts. Like when I got
married, broke my wrist, had a car accident, etc. Anyway, I am also
an ACOA. Therefore, because of years of therapy, I do not know or
have gotten out of touch with being a pure Gemini. I probably have
the traits of all the signs now. However, I enjoy things to do with
the mind, I do have more that one personality (this I've always
accepted), I am gregarious, etc.

From my book - Astrology for the Aquarian Age by Alexandra Mark
Gemini:
A very restless, versatile, and quick sign. Gemini people have a talent
for doing two things at once. They thrive on change. They cannot stand
to be chained to routine. They love anything that does not commit them
to a regular time schedule unless there is much flexibility within that
routine. They are witty, artistic, and very often musical. There is
sometimes an aptitude for drawing, languages, or selling. They seem to
thrive on situations which others might classify as "chaotic." They are
therefore very good in emergency situations, as they rise to the
challenge immediately and will have it well in hand before some of the
other signs have even defined the problem. They do not particularly
enjoy deep, sophisticated, or esoteric philosophies; they usually see
the underlying simplicity. For this reason they have been accused of
being superficially clever. Gemini is ofter manually dexterous, and
this talent often expresses itself through some musical instrument.
This sign is the one that enjoys communicating - either by traveling,
talking as traveling salesmen, railroad workers, writers, broadcasters,
and announcers, artists, dancers and other performers, typists,
secretaries, linotype operators, cashiers, pilots, or in any profession
where versatility, quick thinking and constant change predominate.
You Gemini's out there ---- what do you think.
Is this you???????

Here's something to throw into the pot of discussion; I have read

out in the first incarnation of their spirit as an Aries, and go
through each sign in the zodiac in order, as many times as is necessary
for them to accomplish the goals of their soul.
If this is true I've either been around the wheel before, or I'm

TAURUS
A security-oriented sign. It is often called upon to straighten ou the
confusion created by others, because Taurus ascendant people are
patient, thorough and plodding and will stay with a task no mater how
hopeless it may seem to others. In some there is an element of
sluggishness because they seem to deliberate endlessly before making a
decision. Taurus ascendant people work for the long haul. They enjoy a
situation as long as they can continue to build it up and see it grow.
They move slowly and they need to be in positions that do not threaten
them with constant change. They like to know how much money they are
going to get in advance and are therefore not happy with jobs or careers
in which their income is subject to much fluctuation - unless it
fluctuates along a very healthy wage scale! They are good in positions
of trust and security. They can be relied upon to complete a job and
are generally intensely loyal to anyone or anything to which they have
made a firm commitment. They have a very down to earth manner and a
common sense approach to a problem. They do not like to have to divide
up their time. They prefer to do one thing at a time and to have
enough time to do it. These people are attracted to anything that
"grows" and are therefore often drawn to such field as gardening,
building, real estate, banking and securities.

Taurus Venus

| 1. Andrea - your ascending sign is determined by drawing a chart using
the time of your birth and find your ascendant sign from the table
of ascendants. - (this can be done by an astrologer or by yourself
if you have the correct tables for the year you were born) You are
going to need the exact time & date of your birth.
This in one thing I have not done yet - but it sounds as though
readers here have by the way they have described themselves.
2. Amy - here is your Pisces and Scorpio information - you'll love it.
PISCES
The exceptional receptivity of this sign makes Pisceans accessible to
information a less perceptive person would miss. They are instinctively
able to know the right thing to do, and this gives them an awareness
intuitively before they arrive at the conclusion intellectually. They
are true humanitarians, for they are very much aware of the sorrows and
sufferings of others. They will often be found at work in hospitals or
other institutions that care for people's health or welfare. Extremely
sympathetic, they have the ability to empathize with others and almost
to put themselves in the others fellow's shoes; for this reason they can
be very effective in portraying a dramatic role - or even appealing to
the crowds through their emotions. Many Pisceans are attracted to
parapsychology, for they seem to sense more of the mystery of life than
do others. Problems of air pollution and water pollution are of
paramount interest to many of this sign. They are also attracted to
marine biology, sailing, fishing, oil refining, anesthesiology, biology,
publishing and social service. Painters and artists are also found
strongly represented in this sign, for they have an intuitive ability to
work with colors.
How about that Pisceans!!
SCORPIO
This sign is associated with an intensity and passion for digging,
whether this be in the ground or after the facts, such as in research.
Scorpio people are generally very reserved and secretive. One is rarely
allowed fully into their private world - they withhold much of
themselves until a person has had a chance to merit such consideration.
There is usually an innate love of the mysterious and/or the macabre.
They are not particularly easy to be with at times because their sharp,
penetrating wit has a way of reaching you where it hurts! There is
nothing they like more than a debate, for they enjoy tearing the other
fellow's arguments apart. This ability to probe deeply leads to such
fields or professions as surgery, psychiatry, research of all kinds,
newspaper reporting, and statistics. Scorpio is also associated with
such vocations as undertaking, plumbing, pathology, chemistry,
insurance, sanitation, excavation, and renovation. In addition, Scorpio
people are also drawn to the field of birth control and reproduction.
How about that Scopio's!
Now remember I have only given you a small scope of these signs. This
segment was more geared to show you the career direction for these
signs.
Time to go - I've been typing my head off today!!!

In order to calculate the rising sign as accurately as possible,
you do need to use the latitude and longitude of the place where
you were born, along with the date and time. Time zones also
come into play here. The rising sign is an important and
sensitive point in the birth chart. It is what you present to
the world first. Many times when trying to guess someones sun
sign, people actually are picking up the rising sign (which is
why many times people guess wrong :-)).

And what about cases where no time of birth is known? There is no time

Hi Mikie?,
If we call the rising sign by its other name - ascendant, there
is also the polar opposite called the descendant (the cusp of
the 7th house). If you were looking at the birth chart, you
would see a circle with twelve pie-cuts representing the
twelve houses. From right to left, there is a line through
the middle of this circle - the left point is the ascendant,
the right point is the descendant. Some call this the relation-
ship axis; the left point is where we attract to ourselves and
the right point is where we are attracted. These points are two
of the four angular points of the chart that are very important
(the other two are the point at the top of the chart - the
midheaven and the point at the bottom of the chart - the nadir.
In order to best cast a birth chart, you need the full birth
data (date, time and place). With this information, you will
calculate the house structures, the exact position of the moon,
and the house placements of the planets. If you only have a
birth date, you can still get quite a bit of information from
the placements of the planets in the signs, as well as aspects
of the planets to one another. You will also be able to
ascertain where the moon's nodes were by sign. Since the
moon moves so quickly, there may be a question of its sign
placement if it was near the beginning or the end of a sign
on your date of birth.
There are some astrologers who do what is called chart
rectification, which is a painstaking process of coming up
with the rising sign and house cusps. I don't know the
specifics of the process however.
Have you ever used a pendulum? I know that some people have
tried this process to come up with the birth time. It could
probably be used for establishing the city of birth also.
When I first became interested in astrology, the birth
certificate I had did not have the time on it. I sent to
the state department of health for a copy of my birth record.
While I was waiting for a reply, I went for a reading with a
psychic. I was able to ask ten questions at the end of the
reading - one was what time I was born. She wasn't exactly
specific but she did say I was born just before sunrise. A
few days later I received a copy of my hospital birth record
and it had the time of birth - 5:48 am.
So, if you are interested enough, there are some alternatives
to try. :-)

.37 is more than a bit premature, and actually has several errors.
The actual assignment of Signs to elements (aka. triplicities ..
Fire, Earth, Air, Water) and quadruplicities (Cardinal, Mutable,
Fixed) goes like this:
CARDINAL MUTABLE FIXED
-------- ------- -----
FIRE Aries Sagittarius Leo
EARTH Capricorn Virgo Taurus
AIR Libra Gemini Aquarius
WATER Cancer Pisces Scorpio
Now, a few words about the ascendant.
First of all, a birth chart without an ascendant is incomplete.
It is only marginally better than the horoscopes found in the
newspaper or the Sun Signs type of astrology book. In order to
accurately interpret a natal horoscope the ascendant and other house
cusps must be determined. Actually, to me the placement of planets
in natal houses can provide much more of an insight into a persons
motivations and areas of concern than signs (which indicate how that
concern is expressed) or aspects (which indicate other influences
which enhance or detract from that concern/expression). Often a
good astrologer given a birth date without a time (or with a rough
time) can determine the ascendant, and in fact the house positions
of most if not all planets, based upon the planet positions listed
in an ephemeris along with a brief interview with the person.
If you don't have access to an astrologer or an astrology program
and you know your birth time, there are a few rough calculations
that you can make to narrow down your ascendant to within about
15 degrees or so. If the 15 degree range falls on the cusp between
two signs, then you will have to resort to the 'interview' method
by reading descriptions of both ascendants and trying to determine
which description seems to describe you best.
First, of course, an ephemeris which lists your birth date
will help you by telling you all of the planets signs and degrees,
but especially the Sun's degree. (If you are also finding the
fast-moving Moon's position or want more accuracy, you will have
to be sure to adjust the ephemeris times for your local time-zone
at birth .. including an adjustment for Daylight Savings Time)
If you don't have an ephemeris, then the Sun's degree is also not
that tough since it moves one degree per day, and changes signs on
the 21st-24th of the month, depending on the month. (So today Feb
29th, I could estimate the Sun's position to be about 5-8 degrees
of Pisces).
Once you know the sun's degree, you can start figuring the ascendant.
The key is to think of the zodiac as rotating once per day (like
the Sun of course) .. clockwise. Thus each sign is the ascendant
sign for two hours of each day. The order of signs appears on the
zodiac chart in a counter-clockwise order, so as the zodiac spins
clock-wise, each subsequent counter-clockwise ordered sign appears
next on the ascendant (and descendant, midheaven, and nadir of course).
The order of signs is: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo,
Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces.
Now, it is a matter of determining how the time of your birth is
related to the sun-rise on that day. For instance, I was born at
noon-time (actually 1:00 PM Daylight Davings Time .. be careful).
Noon is about 6 hours after sun-rise (assume 6:00 AM sunrise), and
the 6 hours equates into 3 signs. Thus since my Sun is at 17 degrees
of Cancer, I could guess that my ascendant was about 17 degrees
of Libra. (count three from Cancer ... Leo, Virgo, Libra).
In fact, my ascendant is computed as 15 degrees of Libra!!
Once you have the ascendant, you get the descendant for free ..
it is directly opposite from the ascendant (or six signs away).
Other house cusps are quite a bit more difficult to estimate
accurately, although one simple way is just to use the same ascendant
degree in each of the other signs as the cusp of the subsequent
house. Thus since my ascendant (first house) cusp is at 15 degrees
of Libra, I could guess my second house cusp to be 15 degrees of
Scorpio (the next sign), my third house cusp to be 15 degrees of
Sagittarius, etc. This estimate would introduce some errors for
the house placement of a couple of the planets in my chart, but
it is still close enough to provide input for interview method.
BTW: Since I am an astrology 'watcher', and have learned much about
the signs, aspects, houses, etc from simply keeping an eye on sign
transitions of the moon and other planets, void-of-course moon periods,
retrograde planetary motions, and to a lesser degree the transiting
planetary aspects, etc.. I have considered posting a once-a-month
summary of these astrologically significant occurrences for others
to become 'watchers' for yourself. Is there any interest in this?
Once you have made a few major purchases on the void-of-course moon
(and then returned them or they broke), or bought a car when Mars was
retrograde (and then it burned up or had other electrical problems),
or tried to explain the simplest nuance to someone when Mercury was
retrograde (and they took offense or otherwise totally missed the
point), you might find a lot more practical meaning and usefulness
in the study of astrology. In keeping with my own method of learning
astrology, the monthly entry would be high on data, and low on
interpretation .. you would have to do that for yourself.
For example, have you been noticing dramatic failures to communicate
and rampant misinterpretation over the past several weeks? (just look
at a few of the DEJAVU entries) Well, you may be happy to learn
that it should be clearing up now since Mercury has been in retrograde
motion for a bit over three weeks, and just became direct again towards
the end of last week.
One final note .. the Moon is in Leo tonight .. its a great Moon
sign for a party or other entertainment! So have yourself a hot night!

| If anybody does have a problem with birth time, I have successfully
used the pendulum and it was accurate to the minute. I have also
used it to check rising signs, moon signs and sun signs.
This topic is very interesting, didn't we cover this somewhere else
and found out there were more Scorpios than any other sign.
By the way, I am a Scorpio sun sign, Leo moon, Cancer Rising and
have 7 fire, 6 water planets etc in my chart (includes north node
etc)
I scare people that don't know me because I shoot from the hip.
And I don't seem to be able to change that scorpio element to somebody
sweet and cute. At least I'm not as sarcastic and cutting as I
used to be......put a hold on that, unless I don't like you, or
you do something to hurt me or my daughters.
One poor secretary on the social club, was terrified of me, until
some of the others told her what a great and wonderful (!!!) person
I was, she now takes me with a grain of salt.
It seems to me that scorps have the hardest job in trying to curb
that lizard in them - the eagle comes easily.
I tell you, I have an equally hard job of trying to keep the leo
and scorp in line they are always tryhing to outdo each other......
Having a chart done is wonderful in trying to come to terms with
some of the parts of you that you never understood before and need
to alter in some slight way.
If this makes sense - well I'll be - I am trying to finish this
before running off to a meeting.

660.46 | Personally, I like scorpios! | NAC::L_WILLIAMS | | Tue Mar 01 1988 09:07 | 37 |
| My mother who had me at home and was put to sleep can only estimate
my time of birth. Around 12:25 noon time which gives me a Leo sun,
a Capricorn moon, and a Scorpio ascendant. Can anyone tell me how
to use the pendulum to find the time of birth? The choice for me
would be between scorpio and sagittarius ascendant; scorpio seems
to fit better but I would still like to know the exact minute I
was born.
After reading this note I have to come to the defense of Scorpios
(although they don't need anyone to defend them :-) ). There are
a lot of scorpios in my life (my ex-husband scorpio sun, leo ascendant,
my son scorpio sun, capricorn ascendant, one niece, 3 nephews) and
this is just counting family...... They are extremely intelligent,
charismatic, passionate and intense. Their intensity is what they
are best known for. Of course the intensity being present in
everything they do and feel it is then seen in the purest of emotions as
well as in the worst of emotions. They believe in truth and they
believe in telling it as it is. Scorpios are sure of themselves
and don't need compliments for others - they know who and what they
are and don't need reinforcement from others. All of the scorpios I
know love life with a passion and are "doers". Some of them (i.e.
my son) show a beautiful softness. But beware because underneath
scorpios are just not "soft" and when attack they will sting you.
So what must be understood about scorpios is the range of their
intensity, biting, angry, furious, loving, curious, demanding,
passionate, sexy, fabulous, but...... BUT NEVER BORING..... no
never, ever boring.
Why do I like them so much personally? Probably because as a Leo,
in scorpio I meet my match!
And before I end here I have another question. What does the
descendant mean? (mine is taurus). And how about the meaning of
mid-heaven (my leo sun sits extremely close to the left of it) and
the opposite (aquarius)?

| The fire signs..
On the whole they are emotional, volatile types, quick to anger,
quick to forgive. They are adventurous, powerful people and act
as a source of inspiration for evryone. They spark into action
with immediate exuberant impulses. They are intelligent, self-
involved, creative and idealistic. They all share a certain
vibrancy and glow that outwardly reflects an inner flame and passion
for living.
The earth signs....
They are in constant touch with the material world and tend to be
conservative. Although they are all capable of spartan
self-discipline,they are earthy, sensual people who are stimulated
by by the tangible, elegant and luxurious. The thread of their
lives is always practical, but they do fantasize and are often
attracted to dark, mysterious, emotional people. They are like
great cliffs overhanging the sea, rorever married to the ocean but
always resisting erosion from the dark, emotional forces that thunder
at their feet.
The air signs...
They are light, mental creatures desirous of contact, communication
and relationship. They are involved with people and the forming
of ties on many levels. Original thinkers, they are the bearers
of human news. Their language is their sense of word, color style
and beauty. They provide and atmosphere suitable and pleasant
for living. They add change and versatility to the scene, and it
is through them that we can explore human intelligence and experience.
The water sign..
Through the water people, we are all joined together on emotional,
non-verbal levels. They are silent, mysterious types whose magic
hypnotizes even the most determined realist. They have uncanny
perceptions about people and are as rich as the oceans when it comes
to feeling, emotional or imagination. They are sensitive, mystical
creatures with memories that go back beyond time. Through water,
life is sustained. These people have the potential for the depths
of darkness or the heights of mysticism and art.

It is the sign of adventure and a thousand and one new experiences.
It is the cause and purpose of every new attempt at adventure or
self-understanding. It is the embodiment of enthusiasm, search
for truth and love of wisdom. Hope and optimism characterize this
section of the Zodiac, and it is the ability to leave the past behind
and set out again with positive resilience and a happy, cheerful
outlook. It is intelligence and exuberance, youthful idealism and
the desire to expand all horizons. It is the constant hatching
of dreams, the hunger for knowledge, travel and experience. The
goal is exploration itself.
Sagittarius is generosity, humor and goodness of nature, back up
by the momentum of great expectations. It symolizes the ability
of people to be back in the race after having the most serious spills
over the biggest hurdles. It is healthy, positive outlook and the
capacity to meet each new moment with unaffected buoyancy.
At this point in the Zodiac, greater conscious understanding begins
to develop self-awareness and self-acceptance. It is an Olympian
capacity to look upon the bright side and to evolve that aspect
of mind we call conscience.

| My husband is a Gemini, and the only traits he possess that fit
the canned description of Gemini's is that he is good musically,
plays the guitar by ear, and he can assess emergency/problem situations
in an instant and responds well even faster.
He CAN NOT do two things at once, a slight aggreviation to me,
Cancer/Leo July 19th (more Leo than Cancer thank the stars-no slight
intended on other Cancers-personal preference)simply because I am
able to do any number of things at any given moment. He does enjoy
deep esoteric phylisophical conversation, and does not mind routine
schedules, but would prefer to set those routines himself. He is
brilliant when it comes to financial planning and taxes (getting
his masters in taxation from Bryant College).
Can anyone explain how someone so intrenced in an astrological sign
by virtue of their birth date, be so far off the mark from the
traits attributed to persons born under that sign? Does the time
of day a person was born have that much of an affect on how closely
they will resemble the norm of their birth sign? I would really
appreciate any enlightenment on this question.
Thanks all.

RE: .57
There could be many reasons why your husband displays very few of
the Gemini traits. Though his Sun may be in Gemini, his essence
is expressed through the rest of the planets in the chart. The
house placement of the Sun and aspects to it from other planets
is very important. The sign and house placement of the Moon and
its aspects is very important. The rising sign and any rising
planets would affect his outer expression. Other important
points in the chart that reflect our tendencies are the North
and South Nodes of the Moon. The sign and house placement of
the South Node indicates what we have learned very well and comes
easily to us. The North Node of the Moon shows what we need to
learn in order to grow. Needless to say, the whole chart has to
be taken into consideration - which is why Sun Sign astrology can
only go so far, and is often put down by those who sense the
superficiality of this approach but not having studied astrology
they are all to ready to trash astrology as a whole.

660.64 | planets of the solar system | CSCMA::SNOW | | Thu Mar 03 1988 12:42 | 169 |
| The planets of the Solar System all travel around the Sun at different
speeds and different distances. Taken with the Sun, they all
distributeindividual itelligence and ability throughout the chart.
The planets modify the influence of the Sun in a chart according
to their own particular natures, strengths and positions.
The Sun...is the center of existence. Our star is constantly sending
out its beams of light and energy without which no life on Earth
would be possible. In astrology it symbolizes everything we are
trying to become, the center around which all of our activity in
life will always revolve. It is the symbol of our basic nature
and describes the natural and constant thread that runs through
everything that we do from birth to death on this planet.
Everything in the horoscope ultimately revolves around this singular
body. Although other forces may be prominent in the charts of some
individuals, still the Sun is the total nucleus of being and symbolizes
the complete potential of every human being alive. It is vitality
and the life force. Your essence comes from the position of the
Sun.
Mercury....is the planet closet to the Sun. It races around our
star, gathering information and translation it to the rest of the
system. Mercury represents your apacity to understand the desires
of your own will and to translate those desires into action.
In other words it is the planet of Mind and the power of communication.
Through Mercury we develop an ability to think, write, speak and
observe - to become aware of the world around us. It colors our
attitudes and vision of the world, as well as our capacity to
communicate our inner responses to the outside world. Some people
who have serious disabilities in their power of verbal communication
have often wrongly been described as people lacking intelligence.
Although this planet indicates your power to communicate your thoughts
and perceptions to the world, intelligence is something deeper.
Intelligence is distributed throughout all the planets. It is the
relationship of the planets to each other that truly describes what
we call intelligence. Mercury rules speaking, speaking, language,
mathematics, draft and design, students messengers, young people,
offices, teachers and any pursuits where the mind of man has wings.
Venus...is beauty. It symbolizes the harmony and radiance of a
rare and elusive quality: beauty itself. It is refinement and
delicacy, softness and charm. In astrology it indicates grace,
balance and the esthetic sense. Where Venus is we see beauty.
Venus is the planet of sensitivity, affection, and it is always
the place for that other elusive phenomenon: love. Venus describes
our sense of what is beautiful and loving. Poorly developed, it
is vulgar, tasteless and self-indulgent. But its deal is the flame
of spiritual love - Aphrodite, goddess of love, and the sweetness
and power of personal beauty.
Mars....is raw, crude energy. the planet next to earth but outward
from the Sun is a fiery red sphere that charges through the horoscope
with force and fury. It represents the way you reach out for new
experience. It is energy and drive, initiative, courage and daring.
The power to start something and see it through. It could be
thoughtless, cruel and wild, angry and hostile, causing cuts, burns,
scalds and wounds. It can stab its way through a chart, or it can
be a symbol of healthy spirited adventure, well-channeled constructive
power to begin and keep up the drive.
If you have trouble starting things, if you lack the get-up-and-go
to start the bal rolling, if you lack aggressiveness and
self-confidence, chances are ther's another planet influencing your
Mars. Mars rules soldiers, butchers, surgeons, salespeople - in
general any field that requires daring, boldd skill, operational
technique or self-promotion.
Jupiter....is the largest planet of the Solar System. Scientists
have recently learned that Jupiter reflects more light than it receives
from the Sun. In a sense it is like a star itself. In astrology
it rules good luck and good cheer, health, wealth, optimism, happiness,
success and joy. It is the symbol of opportunity and always opens
the way for new possibilities in your life. It rules exuberance,
enthusiasm, wisdom, knowledge, generosity and all forms of expansion
in general. It rules actors, statesmen, clerics, professional people,
religion, publishing and the distribution of many people over large
areas.
Jupiter....makes you think you deserve everything, and you become
sloppy, wasteful, careless and rude, prodigal and lawless, in the
illusion that nothing can ever go wrong. Then there is the danger
of your showing overconfidence, exaggeration, undependability and
overindulgence.
Jupiter is the minimization of limitation and the emphasis on
spirituality and potential . It is the thirst for knowledge and
higher learning.
Saturn....circles our system in dark slendor with its mysterious
rings, forcing us to be awakened to whatever we negelcted in the
past. It will present real puzzles andd problems to be solved,
causing delays, abstacles and hindrances. By doing so, Saturn stirs
our own sensitivity to those areas where we are laziest.
Here we must patiently develop method and only through painstaking
efforts can our ends achieve. It brings order to horoscope and
imposes reason just where we are feeling least reasonable. By
creating limitations and boudary, Saturn shows the consequences
of human and demands that we accept the changing cycles inevitable
in human life. Saturn rules time, old age and sobriety. It can
bring depression, gloom, jealousy and greed, or serious acceptance
of responsibilities out of which success will develop. With Saturn
there is nothing to do but face the facts. It rules laborers, stones,
granite, rocks and crystal of all kinds.
Uranus....rules unexpected change, upheaval, revolution. It is
the symbol of total independence and assert the freedom of an
individual from all restriction and restraint. it is the break-
through planet and indicates talent, originality and genius in a
horoscope. It usually causes last-minute reversals and changes
of plan, unwanted separations, accidents, catastrophes and eccentric
behavior. It can be irrational rebelliousness and perverse bohemianism
to a personality or a streak of enaffected brilliance in a science
and art.
Uranus rules technology, aviation and all forms of electrical and
electronic advancement. It governs great leaps forward and topsy-
turvy situations, and always turns things around at the last minute.
Its effects are difficult to ever really predict, since it rules
sudden last-minute decisions and events that comes like lightning
out of the blue.
Neptune...dissolves existing reality the way the sea erodes the
cliffs beside it. Its effects are subtle like the ringing of a
buoy's bell in the fog. It suggest a reality higher than definition
can usually decribe. it awakens a sense of higher responsibility
responsibility often causing guilt, worry, anxieties or delusions.
Neptune is associated with all forms of escape and can make things
seem a certain way so convincingly that you are absolutely sure
of something that eventuall turns out to be quite different.
It is the planet of illusion and therfore governs the invisible
realms that lie beyond our ordinary minds, beyond our ordinary
minds, beyond our simple factual ability to prove what is "real."
Trechery, deceit, disillusionment and disappointment are linked
to Neptune. It decsribes a vague reality that promises eternity
and the devine, yet in a manner so complex tahat we cannot really
fathom it at all. At its worst Neptune is a cheap intoxicant; at
its best it is poetry, music and inspiration of the higher planes
of spiritual love. It has dominion over movies, photographs and
and much of the arts.
Pluto lies at the outpost of out system and therefore rules finality
in a horoscope - the final closing of chapters in your life, the
passing of major milestones and points of development from which
there is no reeturn. It is final wipeout, a closeout, an evacuation.
It is distant, subtle but powerful catalyst in all transformations
that occur. It creates, destroys, then recreates.
Pluto rules the dead and the underworld - all the powerful forces
of creation and destruction that go on allthe time beneath, around
and above us. It can bring a lust for power withstrong obsessions.
It is the planet that rules the metamorphosis of the caterpillar
into a butterfly, for it symbolizes the capacity to change totally
and forever a person's life style, way of thought and behavior.
The Moon..affects us psychologically and physically. It controls
the tides; we've seen that. We understand how it affects blood
rythm and body tides, together with allthe chemical fluids tat
constitute our physical selves.
In Astrology, the moon is said to rule our feelings, customs, habits
and moods.

660.67 | Virgo the Virgin | CSCMA::SNOW | | Thu Mar 03 1988 14:26 | 30 |
| Virgo is the sign of work and service. It is the symbol of the
farmer at harvest time, and represents tireless efforts for the
benefit of humanity, the joy of bringing fruits of the Earth to
the table of mankind. Celebration through work is the characteristic
of this sign. Sincerity, zeal, discipline and devotion mark the
sign of the Virgin.
The key word is purity, and in Virgo lies a potential for unlimited
self-mastery. Virgo is embodiment of perfected skill and refined
talent. The thread of work is woven into the entire life of Virgo.
All creativiy is poured into streamlining a job, classifying a system,
eradicating unnecessary elements of pure analysis. The true Virgo
genius is found in separating the wheatt from the chaff.
Spartan simplicity characterized this sign, and Virgo battles the
war between order and disorder. The need to arrange, assimilate
and categorize is great; it is the symbol of diagnostician , the
nurse and the healer. Critism and analysis describe this sign -
pure, incisive wisdom and a shy appreciation of life's joys. All
is devoted to the attainment of perfection and the ideal of
self-mastery.
Virgo is the sign of health and represents the physical body as
a function symbol of the mental and spiritual planes. It is the
stae of healing the ills of the human being with natural, temperate
living. It is muturation of the ego as it passes from a self centered
phase to its awareness and devotion to humanity.
It is humanitarian, pragmatic and scientific, with boundless curiosity.
Focus and clarity of mind are the strong points, while strength
of purpose and shy reserve underlie the whole sign.

| I am bout to marry a cancer...and I find him to be a little childish,
he knows his home....he very sharing....sometimes he can be cold...
but I don't think he does it intentionally....but here is what the
book says....
Cancer is the special realtionships to home and involvement with
the family unit. Maintaining harmony in the domestic sphere or
improving conditions there is a major characteristic in this sector
of the Zodiac. Cancer is attachment between two beings vibrating
in sympathy with one another.
It is the comfort of a loving embrace, a tender generostiy. Cancer
si the place of shelter whenever there are lost or hungry souls
at night. Through Cancer we are fed, protected, comforted and soothed.
When the coldness of the world threatens, Cancer is there with gentle
understanding. It is protection and understated loyalty, a medium
rich, living feeling that is both psychic and mystical. High
intuitive, Cancer has knowledge that other signs do not possess.
It is the wisdom of the soul.
It prefers the quiet contentment of the home and hearth to the busy
search for earthy success and civilized pleasures. Still, there
is a respect for wordly knowledge. Celebration of life comes through
food. The sign is muted light of warmth, security and gladness,
and its presence means nourishment. It rules fertility and the
instinct to populate and raise young. It is growth of the soul..
It is the ebb and flow of all our tides af feeling, involvements,
habits and customs.
Through cancer is reflected the inner condition of all human beings,
and therein lies the seed of knowledge out of which the soul will
grow.

660.74 | the houses and their meaning | CSCMA::SNOW | | Fri Mar 04 1988 17:41 | 80 |
| I found something else......
The twelve houses of every horoscope represent areas of life on
Earth, or regions of wordly experience. Depending on which sign
of the Zodiac was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of
birth, the activity of each house will be "colored" by the zodiacal
sign on its cusp, or edge. In other words, the sign falling on
the first house will determine what signs will fall on the rest
of the houses.
1. The first house determines the basic orientation to all of life
on Earth. It indicates the body type, face, head and brain. It
rules your self-image, or the way others see you because of the
way you see yourself. This is the Ascendant of the horoscope and
is the focus of energies of your whole chart. It acts like a prism
theough which all plaentary light passes and is reflected in your
life. It colors your outlook and influences everything you do see.
2. This is the house of finac=nces. Here is your approach to money
and materialism in general. It indicates where the best sources
are for you to improve your financial condition and your earning
power as a whole. It describes your values, alliances and assets.
3. This is the house of the day-to-day mind. Short trips,
communication and transportation are associated with this house.
It delas with routines, brothers and sisters, relatives, neighbors
and the near environment at hand. Language, letters and the tools
for transmitting information are included in the third-house matters.
4. This is the house that describe your home and homelife, parents,
and childhood in the sense of indicating the kind of roots you come
from. It symbolizes your present home and domestic situatuion and
relects your need for privacy and retreat from the world, indicating,
of course, what kind of scene you require.
5. Pleasure, love affairs, amusement, parties, creativity, children.
This is the house of passion and courtship and of expressing your
talents, whatever they are. It is related to the developement of
your personal life and the capacity to express feeling and enjoy
romance.
6. This is the house of work. Here there are tasks to be accomplished
and maladjustments to be corrected. It is the house of health as
well, and describes some of likely places where physical health
difficulties may appear. It rules routine, regimen, necessary jobs
as opposed to a chosen career, army, navy, police - people employed,
co-workers and those in service to others. It indicates the
individual's ability to harvest the fruit of his own efforts.
7. This is the house of marriage, partnership and unions. It
representsthe alter ego, all people other than yourself, open
confrontation with the public. It describes your partner and the
condition of partnership as you discern it. in short, it is your
"take" on the world. It indicates your capacity to make the transition
from courtship to marriage and specifically what you seek out in
others.
8. This is the house of deep personal transisition, sex as a form
of mutual surrender and interchange between human beings. It is
release from tension and the completion of the creative processes.
The eighth house also has to do with taxes, inheritances and the
finances of others, as well as death as the ending of cycles and
crises.
9. This is the house of hte higher mind, philosophy, religion and
the expression of personal conscience through moral codes. It
indicatesreligion learning, ethical views and the capacity of the
individual for a broader perpective and deeper understanding of
himself. It is through the ninth house that you make great strides
in learning and travel to distant places and come to know yourself
through study, dreams and wide experience.
10. This is the house of career, honor and prestige. It marks the
culmination of wordly experience and indicates the highest point
you can reach, what you look up to, and how high you can go in this
lifetime. It decribes your parents, employers and how you view
authority figures in general, the condition and direction of your
profession and your position in the community.
......I'll do house 11 and 12 later....got to go

660.76 | Blending Of The Elements | EVE::GERTZ | BuTTRflysRFree | Sat Mar 05 1988 12:16 | 66 |
| I like to think of Signs in the form of their elements. I am an
Aries with a Leo Moon, Leo Rising. I have had my astrological chart
done. The completed chart has helped me in my search for a better
understanding of who I am and some of the life lessons I need to learn.
Thought you might enjoy the following from,
Linda Goodman's Love Signs Book
FIRE SIGNS
Aries Fire blends easily with Fire and Air
Leo but requires tolerance to blend with
Sagittarius Earth and Water.
AIR SIGNS
Libra Air blends easily with Air and Fire
Aquarious but requires tolerance to blend with
Gemini Earth and Water.
EARTH SIGNS
Capricorn Earth blends easily with Earth and Water
Taurus but requires tolerance to blend with
Virgo Fire and Air.
WATER SIGNS
Cancer Water blends easily with Water and Earth
Scorpio but requires tolerance to blend with
Pisces Fire and Air.
FIRE and FIRE
When Fire meets Fire, the resulting higher and hotter flames may create a
conflagration, which will either consume itself, and burn out--or light
the darkness and melt the ice and fear of negative thinking. The choice
lies equally with both individuals.
AIR and AIR
When Air meets Air, there is complete freedom of movement, little or no
restriction. This blend can result in a glorious mental, emotional and
spiritual uplifting. But Air becomes stale and polluted without the
winds of change, and Air can be whipped into the frenzy of a tornado
under certain conditions. The choice lies equally with both individuals.
EARTH and EARTH
When Earth meets Earth, this blend can build itself into a tall mountain of
faith and strength--or can instead become a dry desert, depending on
which direction it takes. When agitated, the result can be an earthquake,
with volcanic repercussions. The choice lies equally with both
individuals.
WATER and WATER
When Water meets Water, there is no resistance, resulting in a continual
stream of inspiration, flowing eventually into a greater ocean of
enlightenment--or on the negative side, it may trickle into a stagnant
inlet, where there is no escape. Water cools the thirst but, when out of
control, brings destructive floods. The choice lies equally with both
individuals.
More in next reply.

660.77 | More Blending Of The Elements | EVE::GERTZ | BuTTRflysRFree | Sat Mar 05 1988 12:19 | 65 |
| Blending of the Elements -- Page 2
FIRE and AIR
Air fans Fire, and causes it to burn more brightly, stimulating
enthusiasm and excitement--or inciting passion and anger. Too much Fire
can burn up the oxygen in Air, making it difficult to breathe--and
too much Air, such as strong wind, can cause a flame to flicker even
more dimly. The choice lies equally with both individuals.
FIRE and EARTH
It is always obvious which is the stronger and more enduring of the two
elements. Earth remains where it is, unless moved by inner explosion,
or through outside forces. Fire charts it own course, every reaching
toward the heavens. Fire can scorch Earth but never completely destroy
it. Earth will support Fire, forming a stable foundation for its flames;
yet too much Earth can bury the brightest Fire. The choice lies equally
with both individuals.
FIRE and WATER
A large Fire can dehydrate or dry out a small amount of Water, with
excessive heat. On the other hand, large quantities of Water can
extinguish Fire, put out its flames. Therefore, Fire instinctively
either fears or respects Water, and vice versa. Both subconsciously
sense the danger--that each is capable of completely destroying the
other. The choice lies equally with both individuals.
EARTH and AIR
Earth contains Air and needs it, but Air neither contains Earth nor
needs it. Earth is obligated to remain where it is, moving only
through earthquake, volcanis or outside forces. Air has freed itself
from such restrictions, moving above the Earth at whim, neither
changing Earth nor long remaining. Earth is detached from Air,
seeminly unaware of its existence, until strong winds disturb the
plants and flowers growing on its surface, rooted in its bosom. The
outcome is determined by choice, which lies equally with both
individuals.
EARTH and WATER
Water seeks a home, which it finds within the Earth, penetrating
Earth and moistening it, which is a blessing to the Earth--for it is
Water's penetration alone that allows Earth to "mother" all forms of
living plants, trees and flowers. Without the 'enrichment' of Water,
Earth is dry and useless. Without the Earth to moisten, Water's course
is aimless and equally useless. These two element were designed each
to need the other. But too much Water can disappear within the
mountainous masses of Earth. The outcome is determined by choice,
which lies equally with both individuals.
AIR and WATER
Air penetrates Water...stirs it, churns it into lashing waves...then
moves away....an infiltration or attack over which Water has no control.
When Water penetrates Air in the form of moisture, it causes Air to be
heavy. But, in the process, it also brings to all of Nature the
blessed relief of rain, magically changing Air _into its own element_,
a transmutation over which Air has no control. In the final analysis,
there is no choice of outcome for either individual--only through
Destiny's Higher Will.

660.78 | Put signs next to your houses. | ISTG::DOLLIVER | Todd O. Dolliver | Mon Mar 07 1988 19:02 | 58 |
| For those who are trying to learn to interpret astrological signs and houses,
it will be easier if you first recognize the direct correspondence between
the two concepts. In fact, if the signs are taken in their 'natural' order,
the n'th house indicates the same influences as can be recognized in the
n'th ordered sign. Let me illuminate this with the following _very_ simplified
overview chart :
HOUSE SIGN
===== ====
1 Self ARIES Self-initiation of action
2 Money, posessions TAURUS Solid Materialism
3 Mind, Communication GEMINI Mental flitting about
4 Home CANCER Home, mom, food
5 Pleasure LEO Partyyyyyyyyyyy!
6 Work, Tasks VIRGO Meticulous detail work
7 Partners, Marriage LIBRA Relationships
8 Sex, Death SCORPIO You got it .. SEX and death
9 Philosophy SAGITTARIUS Philosophy, free-thinking
10 Career, Business CAPRICORN Businessman, penny-counter
11 Groups ACQUARIUS Detached communications
12 Hidden Forces PISCES Secrets, Incarceration
These are not the end-all of interpretations, but I have hopefully convinced
you that if you know signs, then you could make a pretty good guess at houses.
So, it is not really two sets of descriptions which you must learn, but
a single set which manifests itself somewhat differently in each case.
Actually, there are many ways in which, for example, Mars in the first house
could appear to be like Mars in ARIES, and may even show these characteristics
_more_ than if Mars _were_ in ARIES yet in another house.
Both houses and signs 'color' the basic nature of the planet which resides
in that house or sign. The difference is that signs indicate what form the
planet's energy will take (different signs may accentuate or inhibit the
expression of different planets), while houses indicate what portion of
_your_ life this planet's effect will operate within.
The house descriptions given in .73 and sign descriptions given earlier are
very instructive and I recommend using this type of explanation as the initial
basis of your understanding of the houses and signs. (BTW. I have never seen
descriptions of houses or signs which are almost exclusively decribing the
_positive_ expressions! This is sure to make for more entertaining reading
when the description is about you :-)) However, I still do not think that
you can really 'grok' (fully understand) these interpretations until you start
investigating the effects of these concepts on your _own_ natal chart .. and
those of other people you know well.
I would like to correct one minor misconception in .73 however, about
how your ascendant sign will definitely identify the sign on the cusp of
all other houses. There is one very simple house system (called 'equal houses')
for which this holds true (and this is often considered as an easy way out
when you don't want to go through all of the tables of houses to find exact
house cusps) yet in _all_ other house systems it will definitely hold true
_only_ for the descendent sign, and _may_ hold true for all other signs, but
actually all of the pairs of opposite houses will occupy a different number
of degrees of arc, and thus a single sign may fall on two house cusps, or on
none at all (the latter being called an 'intercepted' sign).

| re: 79
This is the book that I (Andrea) have...
Scorpio...is the sign of dark intensity, swirling passion and sexual
magnetism. It is the thirst for survival amd primitive animal drives
which are the bases of sexual orientation and the creative impulses
for self-expression. No other sign has such a profound instinct
for survival and reproduction. Out of the abyss of emotions come
a thousand creations, each one possessing a life of its own.
Scorpio is completion, determination and endurance, fortified with
enough stamina to outlive any enemy. It is the pursuit of goals
despite any threat, warning or obstacle that might stand in the
way. It simply cannot be stopped. It knows when to wait and when
to proceed. It is in the constant state of readiness, a vibrant
living force that constantly pumps out its rhythm from the depth
of being.
Secretive and intimate, Scorpio symbolizes the self-direct creature
with a will of steel. It is flaming desire to create, manipulate
and control a magician's touch. But the most mysterious quality
is the capacity for metamorphosis, or total transformation.
This represents supremacy in the battle with dark unseen forces.
It is the state of being totally fearless -- the embodiment of truth
and courage. The healer. It symbolizes the human capacity to face
all danger and emerge supreme. As a caterpillar spins its way into
the darkness of the cocoon, Scorpio faces the end of existence,
says goodbye to an old way of life and goes through a kind of death
-- or total change.
Then, amid the dread of uncertainty, something remarkable happens.
From hopelessness or personal crisis a new individual emerges, like
a magnificent butterfly leaving behind its cocoon. It is a human
being completely transformed and victorious. This is Scorpio.

THis is what I have about Uranus...
Uranus rules unexpected change, upheaval, revolution. It is the
symbol of total independence and asserts the freedom of an individual
from all restriction and restraint. It is a breakthrough planet
and indicates talent, originality and genius in a horoscope. It
usually causes last-minute reversals and changes of plan, unwanted
separations, accidents, catastrophes and eccentric behavior. It
can add irrational rebelliousness and perverse bohemianism to a
personality or a streak of unaffected brillance in science and art.
Uranus rules technology, aviation and all forms of electrical
advancement. It governs great leaps forward and topsy-turvy situations
and always turns things around at the last minute. It effects are
difficult to ever really predict, since it rules sudden last-minute
decisions and events that come like lightning outof the blue.

Re: .87
1.
A good way to start is to read and learn as much as posible. What
are the variables or factors in Astrology (basically, 12 signs,
10 planets, 12 houses and 10 aspects), how they interact together,
and how they affect us? That's how I started 6 years ago. It took
me some years to identify what areas of Astrology I wanted to spend
some study time with. There is natal chart interpretation (basic,
advanced), transits, progressions, synastry and composites
(relationship analysis), Medical, vocational, just to name a few
themes.
Therefore, it makes sense to first learn what makes up the system.
Then decide what is your area of interest. At this point in time,
any astrological information that is backed up by statistics, get
my attention.
2.
The two major distributors of Astrology books (in the USA) are ACS
Publications (Astro-Computing Services) in Ca. and Para Research
in Pennsylvania. If someone is interested in their addresses, drop
me a note, I will find them for you. Of the books that I own, these
are the ones I recommend for a good start:
Title Author Aprx cost
The Only Way to Learn Astrology McEvers/March $10
(volume I, II and III)
The Astrologer's Handbook Sakaoian/Acher $15
The new A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator- Lewellyn $18
Complete Horoscope Interpretation Pottenger $20
The Complete Astrologer Parker $25
The following are the books that have satisfied the most, my hunger for
astrological information: (In that order)
Encyclopedia of Medical Astrology (Cornell, $25)
The Rulership Book (Bills, $16)
Astrological Insights into Personality (Lundsted, $13)
Planets in Transit (Hand, $23), Planets in Composite (Hand, $19)
The Psychology of the Planets (Gauquelin, $9)
3.
Pit-falls? - Many. The more you learn, the more you want to know.
People that believe astrology to be fatalistic, become
discouraged after some study of it. Astrology provides
many answers, but perhaps is short on solutions. I've
become a conformist.
4.
Astrology is not a religion, at least not for me. I consider it
as, part art and part science. Most subjects are just like that,
right? - Medicine, engineering, etc. When humanity understand
the workings of astrology, (i.e. HOW the planets affects us) in
quantity (vs quality), then we will concider it more as a science.
For me, Astrology is a tool for understanding. The following are
books on Scientific Astrology; These contain lots of statistical
data:
Research Cyclopedia
Patterns of Professions
Harmonics in Astrology
Astrology - 30 years of Research
Psychology of the Planets (Gauquelins are statisticians, wanted
to prove astrology wrong, and failed)
The Scientific Basis of Astrology (Stein/Day)

6. > Is it time to go home yet? - Yes. Good night!

660.89 | Transiting Uranus: expect the unexpected | BUZON::DELVALLE | | Tue Mar 22 1988 22:04 | 47 |
|
re .85
This is what I have on Transiting Uranus in my Transits Book:
During the transits of Uranus to your natal chart, you will experience
phenomena that are out of accord with your everyday life. The events
that occur will be unusual, upsetting, sudden and unexpected. For
this reason astrologers are often circumspect about giving precise
delineations concerning Uranus. Almost all that can be said for
sure is to expect the unexpected.
But the transits of Uranus are not malefic in the traditional sense,
except to the extent that you are unwilling to accept newness and
chage in your life. Uranus challenges the rigid structures in life
that most people work so hard to build. Many people value regularity
and predictability so much that they will even sacrifice personal
happiness to get it. Think of all the unhappy marriages that continue
only because both persons are afraid of the unsecurity that breaking
up would bring.
But this kind of rigidity is ultimately destructive to life in its
highest sense. Life is or should be a constant, ongoing confrontation
between yourself and the world, with an energy that keeps everything
fresh and lively. The problem with this confrontation, however,
is that there is always the danger of losing, so most people avoid
the confrontation if they can. To survive half-dead, they reason,
is better than to lose. But those are not the only alternatives;
it is only fear that makes it seem that way.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
March through May, Uranus transits the first degree of Capricorn.
Those born on december 23 (perhaps plus or minus 1 day), will
experience Transiting Uranus conjunct their Natal Sun. Those with
the first few degrees of Capricorn or Cancer in their ascendant,
will have Uranus transiting the horizontal axis in their charts.
Wow, there is lot going on right now (and in the coming years)
for Capricorn, for Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are transiting the
first decanate of Capricorn. Those with Venus or Moon in the first
few degrees of Capricorn, don't make any major relationship desicions
till the transit is over. In a way, the same applies for people
with Moon or Venus in the first degrees of Cancer, Aries or Libra.
I have seen many bad situations in relationships arise when Saturn and
Uranus are aspecting by transit either their natal Moon or Venus.

| ARIES..........
Is the first sign of the Zodiac, and maks the beginning of springtime
and the birth of the year. In spring the Earth begins its ascent
upward and tips its North Pole toward the sun. During this time
the life-giving force of the Sun streams toward Earth, bathing our
planet with the kiss of warmth and life. Plants start growing.
Life wakes up. No more waiting. No more patience. The message
has come from the sun: Time to live!
Aries is the sign of the Self and is the crusade for the right of
an individual to live in unimpeachable freedom. It represents the
supremacy of the human will over all obstacles, limitations and
threats. In Aries there is unlimited energy, optimism and daring,
for it is the pioneer in search of a new world. It is the story
pd success and renewal, championship and victory. It is the living
spirit of resilience and the power to be yourself, free from all
restrictions and conditioning. There is no pattern you have to
repeat, nobody's rule you have to follow.
Confidence and positive action are born in Aries, and with little
thought or fear of the past. Life is as magic as sunrise, with
all the creative potential ahead of you for a new day. Activity,
energy and adventure characterize this sign. In this sector of
the Zodiac there is amazing strength, forthrightness, honesty and
a stubborn refusal to accept defeat. The Aries nature is warm-blooded
and forgiving, persuasive, masterful and decisive.
In short, Aries is the magic spark of life and being, the source
of all initiative, courage, independence and self-esteem.

| Leo is love. It represents the warmth, strength and regeneration
we feel through love. It is the radiance of life-giving light and
the center of all attention and activity. It is passion, romance,
adventure and games. Pleasure, amusement, fun and entertainment
are all part of Leo. Based on the capacity for creative feeling
and the desire to express love, Leo is the number 1 sign. It
represents the unlimited outpouring of all that is warm and positive.
It is loyalty, dignity, responsibility and command. Pride and nobility
belong to Leo, and the dashing image of the knight in shining armor,
pioneer or hero all are part of Leo. It is a sense of high honor
and kingly generosity born out of deep, noble love. It is the
excitementof the sportsman, with all the unbeatable flair and style
of success. It is strong, unyielding will and true sense of personal
justice, a respect for human freedom and an enlightened awareness
of people's needs.
Leo is the involvement in the Self's awareness of personal talents
and the desire and need to express them. At best it is forthrightness,
courage and effiency, authority and dignity, showmanship and a talent
for organization. Dependable and adent, the Lion is characterized
by individuality, positivism and integrity.
It is the embodiment of human maturity, the effective individual
in society, a virile creative force able to take chances and win.
It is the love of laughter and the joy of making others happy.
Decisive and enthusiastic, the Lion is the creative producer of
the Zodiac. It is the potential to light the way for others.

RE: .96 Mary
I have never tried the pendulum method myself, but know of
people who have. What you would need to do is:
Select an object as your pendant and attached it to a chain
or string. To determine if the time was AM or PM, decide
which direction of movement will be for AM and which for PM
and then hold the pendulum out in front of you and ask the
question. Allow the pendulum to swing freely and note which
direction it moves.
Then, create a layout of a clock face with each hour on it,
spreak out enough so that you can differentiate the pendulum
direction. Ask the question and allow the pendulum to swing
to the appropriate hour. Once this has been established, you
can create another layout of minutes, again ask the question
and allow the pendulum to move in the appropriate direction.
Once you have come up with a time, you can have a chart cast
and see if it fits!
Good luck,
Carole

Hi all,
So, I guess my reply was as confusing as it sounded to me! :-)
The pendulum is actually any object that you decide to use, tied
to a string or hanging from a lightweight chain. A favorite
necklace with a pendant would do nicely, or perhaps a stone tied
to the end of string - whatever feels right for you. I guess how
it works is that it responds to your own subconscious that either
has the information stored somewhere or taps into a cosmic "source"
of information. As you ask the questions, hold the string and let
the pendant dangle. Try not to consciously move it, but let it
begin to sway on its own. If you are doing this over a layout on
a table or on the floor, it should swing in one particular direction.
Keep doing this until you narrow down all the possibilities to a
final answer. Or, if you are just asking for "yes or no" answers,
try suggesting a side-to-side motion for yes, and the opposite
direction for no. If it goes around in circles and doesn't give
you any concrete direction, try it at another time.
Does this make any more sense?

As far as how to use the pendulum, yes. But how do we relate that to
astrology? How does it work in the 12 houses/hours?
Thanks for your time and trouble and all that!

Hello again,
I think I've got the question now!! The pendulum is used to come
up with a birth time when it is not available from any other source.
Once you narrow it down to a time, you would have to go to an
astrologer, or send away to an astrological computing company, and
provide them with your date, place, and *time* of birth so that a
chart can be cast. The time and place are required in order to
calculate your rising sign, and based on the house system used,
the rest of the house cusps will be established as well as the
placement of the planets in the houses.
From there, you can have a reading with an astrologer, or if you
are so inclined, pick up a couple of books that can assist with
interpreting the chart.
Is that what you were looking for?

| I don't know much about its astrological significance, but
aesthetically ... it was gorgeous. The configurations beauty was
aided by the moon being only in its third day, so it didn't swamp
Venus, and by Venus being close to its greatest elongation (farthest
from the sun) so it could be seen well away from the horizon (and
obstructions) when the sky was full dark. As I said, absolutely
gorgeous. (I've been busy so I hadn't noticed that the event was
coming up, I just saw it -- the two brightest objects in the night
sky almost touching. Wow! Then I went inside and discovered that
Venus *was* as high as it looked and that the moon was as young
as it looked (not that I doubted either one, but I got the exact
figures)).

Ditto. I had occassion to be working in my yard in the dark. This
seems to be a Yuppie symptom {:-(. Anyway I had forgotten about
Venus and the moon be close after having read it in the paper. I
looked up and there they were. The moon was a few days from new,
a bright sliver and the majority was barely lit (just enough to
see) and there was Venus just hanging off the point. T'was pretty.

660.107 | Moon conjunct Venus .. appreciation of beauty | ISTG::DOLLIVER | Todd O. Dolliver | Tue Apr 26 1988 12:19 | 49 |
| The astrological term for the celestial event referred to in reply .103
is a conjuntion (0 degree aspect) of the Moon and Venus. The Moon and
Venus are considered to have a natural affinity for one another, so any
aspect between the two is typically beneficial. Since a conjunction is
usually a somewhat beneficial aspect anyway, only nice things can be said
about this aspect. However, since both the Moon and Venus are considered
'inner planets' they operate on a somewhat more surface level, making this
a rather mild aspect.
The Moon (feeling) aligned (conjunct) with Venus (beauty) suggests an inner
appreciation of beautiful things, and may be expressed through some form of
decorating activity. This was a very good time to redecorate, or to create
something of beauty. Since this aspect occurs once every Moon cycle and has
a noticable effect for only a brief period (about 4-6 hours) it is not
considered as such a "GREAT EVENT" astrologically, however there were a couple
of added considerations which made this particular aspect event more visually
appealing and somewhat more significant astrologically.
First, the Moon and Venus (at 15Gemini) were a full 45 degrees from the Sun
(at 0Taurus). This resulted in a rather high visual position in the evening
sky and a brighter appearance for both the Moon and Venus since there was
adequate separation from the Sun (which, of course, was setting). The exact
45 degree angle is a mild secondary aspect called a semi-square, which could
be mildly difficult with some planets, but Sun-Moon and Sun-Venus semi-squares
just indicate a bit more energy to be infused into the Moon-Venus conjunction.
By the way, the Moon-Venus conjunction in the evening sky _always_ involves
a nearly new Moon since Venus never travels more than about 60+ degrees from
the Sun (this is because it orbits _within_ the earths orbit, and thus, for
example, Venus _never_ opposes the Sun from the perspective of the Earth).
Second, with both the Moon and Venus in Gemini (ruled by Mercury which is
associated with thinking/communication) the aspect indicates a period of
_thinking_ or _talking_ about beautiful things or beautiful _ideas_. This
Mercurial connection may tend to make the Moon-Venus aspect more easily
expressed and therefore more noticable.
Third, both the Moon and Venus were near their maximum northern declination
(both at 27 degrees N). This added even more to their apparent height in the
sky (in the Northern hemisphere) and to their extremely close proximity during
conjunction. This resulted in a more beautiful display, and also a slightly
heightened astrological effect since the conjunction was more exact.
With everyone raving about the visual effect of this aspect (.104 "it was
gorgeous", .105 "T'was pretty" ...) it seems that this particular aspect
was uncannily self-fulfilling since it provided not only the astrological
environment for appreciating beauty, but also provided a beautiful visual
display to be enjoyed!

| WEll Pete, we've two in common; moon and sun sign, Capricorn and Scorpio.
What I've learned that this means is that your Scorpio will want to explore the
mystic; Scorpio likes to conform to no law other than its own, whereas
Capricorn will always be implementing the checks-and-balances, will want to
make sure that you miss no steps, would like very much for your laws to fit in
with society's laws.
Others know more about astrology. But I bet you are one intense person.
