| Was it possible someone with your wife's name had lived in the
same house as your wife (prior to her?) When was the house built?
Was it built prior to your wife's birth or after? IF none of the
above fits, then I'd say you had a "pretty neat" story. One
possibility (and I'm sure others will come up) is that TIME/SPACE
got confused and the future somehow manifested into the present
(or past). According to things that I have heard (and I recognize
this pushes the beliefs of many to the limits) is that some gnome,
elf, etc. or maybe just some Astral level entity (former human,
etc.) plucked it from the past (or present) and placed it where
you found it. (Yeah, yeah, I *know* what you all are saying...it
*is* a possibility, however.)

| RE: .4
Perhaps the right question is "How did Time/Space get unconfused
most of the time?" I know that this sounds flip, and I have stated
it rather informally (stating it formally would require a fairly hefty
research project in mathematical physics), but I really do think that
it is a "deep" question whether or not the incident in .0 was caused by
a "glitch" in the "process" (in quotes because a process cannot by
definition be atemporal) by which time/space becomes ordered.
RE: .0
With the information at hand the only explanation I can offer is
"outragious coincidence." If I was going to describe it in
parapsychological terms, I would have to call it an unusual spontaneous
PK manifestation, but that's a label not an explanation. Before
I would put that label on the incident (i.e., before I would accept
a paranormal explanation as likely) I would have to know a LOT more
information -- the detailed history of the house, how you came upon
the house, and a precise description of how the note was found.
Even then, I would not be able to rule out coincidence.
Great story though -- and unlike most great stories, you have a
souvenir.

568.7 | Here's my guess | SHARE::SSMITH | | Mon Nov 16 1987 11:08 | 9 |
| How about something being delivered to your wife (before marriage),
at the home where she grew up. The packing crate get's discarded.
Someone in the building business, or the owner of that house doing
some home imporvements picks up the discarded crate, breaks it down,
and uses it for flooring in the attic (shipping label and all).
Not very exciting, but I'd bet a few bucks on it.

I would class that with "outrageous coincidence". How outrageous
depends on some of the additional information I was speaking of.

| While insulating the attic crawl space of our cottage, I found an
old newspaper published on 6 Oct 1951, my wife's birthday. Seemed
and odd coincidence...Headline was "FIRST H-BOMB TEST IN PACIFIC"

| I agree that perhaps that someone had possibly discarded an old
packing crate, but I guesss the coincdence is that we should end
up buying this particular house, of all the houses in the world.
Also, nobody with my wifes name ever owned the house before us.

of that happening must be pretty remote.
