| Hmmm..... sounds much like a story my father tells.
When he was a boy in Philadelphia, he and his mother moved to a new house.
There were all kinds of weird things going on such as the sound of footsteps,
faucets turning on, knocking etc. My father says that neither he nor my
grandmother told anyone about what was going on.
One day, during the height of the disturbances, a lady known for her psychic
abilities visited the house for tea. As she chatted with my grandmother,
she looked up the stairs as though following something. Then she turned
and asked, "Who was that gentleman?" Well, no one else was in the house.
They had the house blessed and the disturbances never reoccurred.
My Grandmother later found out from a neighbor that a man had been murdered
in the house many years back.

| Native Americans burn Cedar. I imagine they use the bark. If anyone
is in dire need I have some shavings if you need them.

| Re .2:
Well, it might be easier than that. Aren't most pencils made of
cedar? A handy pencil-sharpener might have all the shavings you'd
need. :-D
Actually, if you're doing incenses, you might try any of the following,
preferably burned over charcoal: sandalwood, frankincense, dragon's
blood.

| Smudgesticks might help... they contain sage, sweetgrass, copal,
cedar and sometimes sandlewood. Native Americans use them in
ceremonial ritual.

Friends of mine had a close friend whose house was occupied by
a ghost. At night they would hear footsteps, find silverware in
different places in the house, and if you rolled a paper sack up
tight and place it on the kitchen floor, when you checked, it would
be unrolled and open.
One day after a visit my friends were rustling up their children,
and turned from the car and said jokingly in passing that the
ghost was welcome to come too.
Well, when they returned home, the strange occurances began
happening in their home also. So Dusty went outside, opened
the car door and called out to the ghost to go for a ride.
He drove to the bus stop, went thru the ritual of 'letting
the ghost out' and they've never had any problems since.
