I was wondering if anyone knew the whole story about Redemption Rock on the Princeton/Westminster line? Some time ago (about a year, I think) some women were talking in my office about strange, demonic rituals that were being held there. I guess there were mutillated animal remains found there on a number of occasions, and strange chanting could be heard in the wee hours of the morning. Some of the women thought the time of these (meetings?) and the spurt of teenage deaths in the Worcester/Fitchburg area were somehow related. I have not heard of anything else regarding this within the last year (I now work at Digital and not my old office) and I recently saw that the Redemption Rock property was for sale. Anyone else hear rumors about this?

Are you looking for the history behind Redemption rock? I don't know anything about rituals being held there - I can't really figure out why anyone would consider it for demonic rituals. redemption rocks is so named because that is where a woman (was it Mary Rowlanson?) was ransomed out of captivity from the local Amero-indians during King Philip's War (1675-1676). The woman (I wish I could remember her name!), went on to write a book about her time in captivity (of course, I can't remeber the title of the book either!). Robert. | |||||

As .1 says, Redemption Rock was the site where a minister went to "redeem" (i.e., ransom) his wife who had been taken hostage by an Amerindian group some months or years previously. Rte. 140 in Princeton is called Redemption Rock Road, I believe, since it passes close to the original Redemption Rock. Don't know anything about animal sacrifices, although the Princeton Police might be able to confirm or deny that. Pc. |
