| Question 1:
While the standard 'poker deck' is an offshoot of the tarot deck,
it has been cut down, and some meanings are not exactly the same
as they would be in the tarot deck. Even among tarot decks and
their readers, there may be several interpretations for a particular
card, depending on surrounding cards, and some 'feel' the reader
is having.
Question 2:
There could be several explanations for having a name that is not
yours surrounding you. First, it could be that you are incorrectly
named. How do you feel about that name? Do you feel that that
is what your name should be? If not, there are other explanations.
There could be a spirit around you with that name. Do you have
any deceased relatives or friends with that name? Does the description
you are getting seem to apply to them? Of course, another explanation
is that the reader is picking up something that is not there.

385.2 | Not sure where to put this | PHENIX::HARQUAIL | Steppin into the Twighlight zone | Thu Mar 02 1989 10:30 | 21 |

I recently met someone who did a reading of me. This person
refers what they are doing as channeling (i'm not sure if this term
was being used loosely or literally). The question I have is they
kept reffering to my child, and my adolescent? Although I understood
what they were talking about, when refer to traits of the child
or adolescent within me. In all that I've read on spiritualism,
channeling, Pyschic readings, auras, etc. I've never read references
to the child, or different developement stages that remain within
a person and are availabe to visit or speak with on another plain,
except of course in pyschology, which maybe is the context that
this person is using?
Anyways I certainly intend to ask this person next time I see
them. But I was wondering if anyone else is familiar with this?
The person implies the ca carry on and visit with say my adolescent,
un be known to me, while they are sitting there and talking to me?
Anything I can read about that will clarify this?
Thanks

| re: .2 (Marilyn)
I found it a bit difficult to figure out what your question
is, exactly, since you say you understand but then you don't.
In any case, I don't know where to direct you specifically within
these notes, but information about the child/adolescent within
is in several topics. The basis for understanding this does not
come from psychology necessarily but rather from physics. It
starts with the premise that time is an illusion and as such
all moments are concurrent ("be here now"). If so, then what
you "were" at 3 is still present, as is what you were at
14 or what you will be at 63, etc. So, not even to the extent
that you can consider other lifetimes, other realities, etc.,
what YOU (Marilyn) are is comprised of all the past, present
and future parts of yourself. That being the case, then if there
is a "problem" with something you experienced at 5, say, then it
is still very much there. In psychology (transactional analysis,
mostly) the time element is not important, but rather that the
event is one which occurred and has had and HAS an impact on the
present. So by accessing the child (within) that had the problem, the issue
can be addressed. In this new spirituality, similarly, the child
or adolescent within can be "called on" and can have their problems
resolved. A further twist comes in the use of "how". Simply relying
on memory may be ineffective, since many events get blocked for
whatever reasons. But by using meditation (hypnosis---which is
used by psychologists, etc. occasionally--being a way to
"meditationally" release the block) one can deal in a milieu
which doesn't have to conform to time or space and can therefore
very effective alter events which the person believes to have
occurred. So, in this fashion one can enter into a meditative
state, "discover" the child/adolescent (or even future self, etc.)
within and can "correct" situations which exist in THEIR reality.
(By giving them what they want, mostly...such as love, protection,
friendships, etc.) Does it work? Absolutely. It may, like so
many other things, require some practice to learn how to establish
the contact, etc., however.
As for the channeling part, there is a recent note that
talks about this (Carole Fretts wrote some good stuff that relates
to your question/interpretation.)
What does all this have to do with spirituality? EVERYTHING.

385.4 | You could try talking to that child | REDWOD::GRAFTON | | Thu Mar 02 1989 12:40 | 25 |
| re: -1
Frederick's comments struck a chord with me--especially the part about
getting in touch with yourself at these other ages. When I am feeling
upset and can't seem to put my finger on the cause, I imagine
"snapshots", if you will, of myself at different ages. As I picture
what I looked like at the different ages, I check to see if the child I
picture is happy or unhappy. If the child is unhappy, I direct my
attention there and see if I can determine why the child (me) is
unhappy. Sometimes the answer is obvious--the child is tired. Other
times, the child is lonely or needs attention. Whatever the problem
is, I take care of that child. If tired, I allow her to sleep
peacefully; if lonely, I hold her and talk to her; if angry, I try to
find out why and resolve it. Most of the time, listening alone
resolves the problem. By the time I am done with this exercise, I find
that my out-of-sorts feelings have disappeared and I feel better
because I have been in touch with myself.
At other times, I go in the other direction and envision how I see
myself in 10-20 years or more. This is very instructive and I use it
as a guide in my everyday life. It keeps me on the path I wish to
follow.

385.5 | One more thing | REDWOD::GRAFTON | | Thu Mar 02 1989 12:45 | 10 |
| One more thought. When I say "I do this-and-that" for the child, I am
also doing it for myself. Seeing that she is tired and needs a nap
allows me to get the rest that *I* need. This is just one method that
has allowed me to become more in touch with my true feelings and helps
me communicate with myself--something that once was non-existent
because I spent so much time denying myself.
I hope this helps,
Jill

385.6 | Makes sense too me | BOXTOP::HARQUAIL | Steppin into the Twighlight zone | Thu Mar 02 1989 14:32 | 18 |
| Thanks Frederick, and Jill.
Frederick, I think you answered my question or confirmed my
suspicion, that time is irrelevant in the spiritual world, and that
this person can be simultaneously talking to me on a concious level
and communicating with the adolescent in me on different plane.
It's a just a different concept to me. In counseling or therapy
in the traditional sense I am accustomed to being asked to think
back address the past etc. In my readings of a spiritual nature
I've heard about levels of conciousness, different planes, different
layers of the aura, each charkra's meaning etc.
And even though, the concept of the child and adolescent was
familiar, I just never heard or read about it in this context of
accessing or communicating in the spiritual sense, although it makes
perfect sense. I was, am curious, and interested in what others
have to say and have said.
Thank-you all
Marilyn
