| The easy way is to type at the NOTES> prompt:
DIR/OUTPUT=dejavudir.tmp *
Which will put the directory into a file. Do not default the note
range or you will get only some of the notes (enough to "fill" your
terminal screen).
This can be followed by:
SPAWN print/delete dejavudir.tmp
You will have to type a RETURN when it is done.
The obvious variations on both of these commands can be done, of
course.
Also useful is the /BUFFER=buffername option on DIRECTORY. This
will put the directory into an EVE buffer, which you can then apply
EVE to.

Hi,
Another way you can print a NOTES file is to EXTRACT it.
What you do is:
First (while you are still in NOTES) you ues the EXTRACT command.
It will ask you what note you want extracted. You type back the
number of the NOTE. (this case would be 336.2)
Then the system will ask you what you want to call the extracted
file. This is your choice.
This takes the note file and copies it onto a DCL file in the account
that you entered NOTES through.
After you have done everything I have told you to do, all you have
to do is make the printer print out the DCL file.

I believe the base nore was inquiring how to get a copy of the
directory, not the content of a note.
For the latter, the easiest way is to use the PRINT command.

Seems I got the proceedure a little backwards.
First the system asks what name do you want to call the EXTRACTed
NOTES file, and then the system asks what NOTE do you want to
EXTRACT.

The way that I print out my directory is to do:
Notes> DIR 1-last then before I hit <ret> do Ctrl/print screen
The only problem with that is that you have to keep hitting return
every time it tells you, but it doesn't show up on the list.

| Help, none of the these instructions has helped me print the
directory. I keep getting error opening my directory and file??
What am I doing wrong? I don't have the option of printing my
screen.

| Sign in through a DECmate and do a HD in the communications menu.
Then do a "dir."

The command line in .6 works file for me.
It is not a DCL command - you must be in notes with this file open
when you issue it.

What finally worked was, simply dir/output dejavu.txt.
I think it was the *.* that was giving me errors the 1st time I
tried thanks again all.
