334.0. "Numerology ???" by WILVAX::LATOUCHE () Fri Mar 13 1987 16:59

Does anyone have any experience in "numerology"?

I ask because of a numerology response from AUSSIE-TEX and my discovery
    of this notesfile.

Numerology - What is it and what influences the outcome???

    Thanks in advance,

Thanks, Jim, for asking a question I myself have had.
    Looking forward to some responses/answers/info.

Specifically, how does one figure out their name numer-
ologically? That is, do you count the # of charactors,
or assign a number to each charactor? (ie A=1, B=2, etc)

What about birthdays? September (my birth month) is easy,
because it's the 9th month, and also contains 9 letters.

My given name and birthdate both add up to the same number.
Now what? What about "nicknames"? What if your "given"
name is Deborah but you usually use Deb? Should I change
the day I was born? (Just kidding) A close friend spells
my name Debra; interesting, because spelling it that way,
his name and my name add up to the same numbers. Does that
mean anything? (other than the fact that he doesn't know or
choose the "proper" spelling for my name?)

Being interested in astrology, I am also becoming interested in
numerology. Astrology allows one to intuit one's basic soul
makeup and life lessons (and therefore, experiences, to a certain
degree) from a map of the positions of the planets, sun, moon,
sometimes asteroids and fixed stars at the moment of his/her birth.
Numerology, as I understand it, allows one to intuit the same type
of information by determining the significant numbers in your life.

How one goes about figuring out those numbers gets somewhat complex,
however. In the few texts I have acquired, there are instructions
for making a single-digit from your first name, your full name,
the vowels in your full name, the consonants in your full name,
your birth date with the month spelled out, your birth date with
the month converted to a number . . . I'll go home and look some
    of the details up.

There also seem to be different ways of doing each of those things
I mentioned above. Take the birth date, for example:

The basic numerological technique is to render large numbers into
single digits. I have seen this done using the birth date in two
    ways:

    	Date: 1/16/1951

    	Reduce the Year: 1 + 9 + 5 + 1 = 16: 1 + 6 = 7
        Reduce the Month: 1
    	Reduce the Day: 1 + 6 = 7

        Add the reduced numbers: 7 + 1 + 7 = 15
        Reduce that number (if necessary): 1 + 5 = 6

    			- or -

    	Add the numbers as follows:
    			      1 + 1 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 1 = 24
    	Reduce the sum: 2 + 4 = 6

    			- or -

Add the Month, Day & Year as follows: 1
    							+ 16
    						      + 1951
    						      ------
    						        1968
    	Reduce the sum: 1 + 9 + 6 + 8 = 24: 2 + 4 = 6

As you can see, you get the same answer, but I don't know which
    method is considered more correct.

When converting names into numbers there are charts used to match
a letter with a number; the numbers used are generally 1 - 9, but
I have seen 11 and 33 included in some lists. Interesting. Don't
have my particular text's list with me, but I can look it up at
    home and retype it here.

There seems to be general agreement about the symbolism of the numbers
themselves (1 - 9); what gets complex is figuring out which number
means what in the context of your own life. Like astrology books,
some texts are ridiculously over-simplified (like most general Sun
Sign books) while others seem to be reference documents for profes-
sional readers. I'm currently sifting through what I can find (mucho
browsing time here) so that I can read more on this discipline
    myself.

Anyone out there ever "had your numbers read"?

    Marcia

I took a course in numerology quite a few years ago, and also have
a couple of books on the subject.

It is said that each number has its own vibration, and numerology
is the study of those vibrations. Each letter of the alphabet is
    assigned a number from 1 to 9, i.e. a=1,b=2,.....i=9,j=1,k=2, etc.

The main numbers you want to learn about are:

Soul Urge - This is the inner you and reflects your true
                  needs and desires.

Using your "full name at birth", assign a number
to each vowel. Add each name separately to its
single digit (unless the total comes to 11 or 22),
and then add all of them together to a single
digit. The 11 and 22 are master numbers that are
                  not reduced.

Quiet Self- This is the you that is only present when you are
                  alone.

Using your "full name at birth", assign a number
to each consonant. Add the same way as above.

Expression - This is how you present yourself to the world, and
is the energy through which your soul urge is
                   filtered.

Using your "full CURRENT name", assign a number
to each letter. Add the same way as above.

NOTE: If you change your name, this is the only
                          number that changes.

Life Path - This is the number vibration of your life's
                   journey.

Take your day, month, and year of birth and reduce
to a single digit (except 11 and 22).

    Sample:

          1 63 6 5 = 1+9+11 = 21 = 3 Soul Urge
         Mary Lou Jones
         4 97 3 1 5 1 = 2+3+7 = 12 = 3 Quiet Self

         4197 363 16551 = 3+3+9 = 25 = 7 Expression

Note: If there are no vowels in a name and there is a "Y" (i.e.
Lynn), use the "Y" as a vowel.

Date of Birth: May 6, 1947

                5
                6
             1947
             ----
             1958 = 23 = 5 Life Path

Another interesting number of find out about is the "Life Challenge".
This is derived from the birth date as follows:

Using May 6, 1947, reduce as follows:

                         5 6 3
here you subtract here you subtract
    the 5 from 6 1 3 the 3 from 6

2 here you subtract the 1 from 3

     2 = the Life Challenge

To the best of my recollection, the above numbers would translate
    as follows:

Soul Urge and Quiet Self - 3

This person would very much want to be social, to mix with
people and generally have a good time. This is a high energy
number. It is also very artistic.

      Expression - 7

However, the 3 energy is often times not given an outlet because
the 7 vibration is one of aloneness. It is considered a spiritual
      and meditative number.

      Life Path - 5

This life path vibration would bring many changes in the life.
The person would have to get used to moving around quite a bit
and would have to learn to discard things along the way.
Going to new places, learning new languages, being involved in
many different pursuits would be aspects of a 5 life path.

      Life Challenge - 2

The 2 challenge brings issues of learning to stand up for yourself
and not allowing people to walk all over you. It is the number
of learning "cooperation" without selling yourself short. Tact
and diplomacy may also be lessons to be learned.

I will check on my books for titles and authors as soon as I get
them unpacked (we're moving this Thursday again! Oh well, that's
just the way of a 5 life path!).

    Regards, Carole

I also wanted to add here that there are many more aspects to
the study of numerology. Much can be learned by applying
numbers to the current year and then forecasting out for a
number of years. This is done by using your birth month and
day added to the current year number, and then using your
full name at birth and actually creating a table. It is
quite involved and I used to do up these charts for myself
when I had more free time. I found them to be quite
informative for what was happening in my life.

There are quite a number of different applications that texts
on numerology will provide instructions for.

334.5Numerology basicsREGENT::WAGNERMon Mar 16 1987 13:0660
I've been studying numerology for about 10 years now and find it a
much more exact science than astrology.
Let me see if I can find the beginning to start explaining
a few things about numerology from my understanding. There are
various uses of the numbers: from "lucky numbers, of which I have
yet to find evidence of, to using them to assist in the interpretation
of astrology charts. I find that dealing strictly with numerology
leaves fewer variables to deal with.
I use numerology to get right to the challenges and obstacles
one has given themselves in this life, and the possible means to
overcome them and allow one's path of life to flow more smoothly.
The numbers in the birthdate indicate external or environmental
influences, and indicates what one has chosen to learn in this life.
The numbers of the name indicate which "inner tools" or aspects
of personality one has to work with to learn the lessons he or she
has come to learn the lessons of the path of life. There are other
charts that can indicate significant points of time in a person's
life and their concerns during that time, but these are more difficult
    to set up.
as to computing the values of numbers, each letter is indeed
    given a number from 1 to 9:

                    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
                    a b c d e f g h i
                    j k l m n o p q r
                    s t u v w x y z

and for basic interpretations, all numbers reduce down to a single
    digit value: E r n i e
                   5 9 5 9 5 = 33 =6

The sum of the vowels in one's name added up and reduced down indicate
one's motivation in life what "moves" on to action. So if one's
vowels add up to the birthdate number, this usually indicates that
one is motivated to be successful on his path of life and is somewhat
    positive excluding other influences.

The sum of consonants in one's name reveal ones hidden dreams or
they usually make themselves evident in day dreams or night dreams.

The sum of the vowels and consonants in one's name gives the
"expression" or the sum total of what one has to work with. This
is very comparible to the rising sign in astrology-it's how you
express yourself to those around you.

a good general reference manual I've used for many years is
entitled "THE NUMBERS OF LIFE" , by Ken Avery, I can't remember
the publisher right off. But if it can't be found locally, I can
forward a source for it if anybody is interested.

I don't know if I answered all the questions, (or created more)
but I too was wondering if anybody in notes land had as much interest
in numerology as I did, and would be glad to answer any other
questions about numerology at least my "discipline" of numerology.

Oh yes and if there is anyone who has done a study of compound numbers
please get in tough with me at REX::WAGNER as there is very little
information on this aspect of numerology and have been doing my
    own research in this area.
334.6More QuestionsWILVAX::LATOUCHEMon Mar 16 1987 16:4440

Thanks for the replys everyone! I've still got a couple more questions
    though.

Is there anyone out there that has had a direct influence of the
"NUMBERS" that came up and how these numbers affected their life.

Do these "NUMBERS" serve as a guide to a better life or are they
    a reflection of ones' destiny.

I ask because of a calculation that I did on the Austrailian vtx.
I logged into the file that did "numerology" specific. What I did
was input my full name at birth and the date of birth. What it spit
of was really surprising. The one topic that i'm concerned about
is the "LIFE PATH". My life path number was 11.

In the "life path 11" read out, it stated that the number 11 is
a master number. It stated that I, and other people with this number,
have powers that we don't know about yet, through training, experience,
and keeping an open mind, they can be developed to bring about positive
things to myself and those around me. It also stated that I am a
nervous individual and "this is quite normal for anyone sitting
on a powder keg of such". Then it stated that I would do good in
psychic studies. Until I discovered this notes file, I didn't know
one thing about different plane and astral studies and the such.

So, back to my original question. Is the outcome of this numerology
a guide for the future or is it an indication of my destiny.

I can not help thinking " It's a wise man who rules the stars, it's
a fool who's ruled by them" (Daryl Martini).

    Still positively puzzeled,

    Jim
334.7A guide to the inner selfREGENT::WAGNERTue Mar 17 1987 08:5265
I mentioned previously that the birthdate indicates what we
come to this life to learn and understand. This is the path of
life. To the extent that this is the only thing that cannot change
in ones life it is their "destiny". Every thing else can and
hopefully will change for the better as each of us gains a better
understanding of our inner selves. The path of life does not change
so it must be the most important path or "goal". Anything else
can only influence the path of life-affect it positively or negatively-
it can never change it. The letters of the name are the "tools"
one comes equipped with in the life to help gain an understanding
of one's path. These letters of the name constitute the personality.
    Soul urge(motivation), quiet self(hidden dreams), expression(one's
'outward' self), are all components of the personality.
The 11 path of life is a master number. This indicates that
you are an evolved soul, living many lives, experiencing much to
be where you are in this life. The 11 has "intuitive" powers which
are not necessarily "occult". The 11 has a way of understanding
things by osmosis. But the energy level is high and nervous tension
can run high. on the positive side the 11 is inspirational, tends
to have their head in the clouds AND their feet on the ground.
On the negative side, they can be condescending. One must remember
that the 11 reduces to the 2 and if the person cannot handle the
energies of the 11 he or she will go through life learning the path
of the two(this is usually the case for early life where one isn't
quite ready to handle the energy of the 11). Usually the lessons
of the 2 path are learned quickly. Cooperation, subservience, knowing
when to lead and when to follow. The 11 is on this earth to learn
to put this knowledge to use on a much larger scope, thus the higher
energy levels available. As to actual "Occult" powers, that can
definitely be determined by the letters in you name in combination
with your path of life, in other words more information is needed
to determine if one is ready to use the psychic powers that are
available. Actually, the 22 path of life is usually able to access
their psychic powers rather readily and unexpectedly, BUT since
the 22 is usually concerned with mundane, routine matters, any
psychic experiences usually upset and frighten them.
I guess that numerology could be a "guide to the future" but
I like to think that it is a means of showing one where their
problems and concerns lie. Which is usually consistent with the
lessons they must learn on their path of life. once these lessons
are learned, one gains the ability to control his own life within
the life path the person has chosen. a forecast can only be accurate
to the extent that it will indicate a souls ability to solve the
problems he set for himself through this life. It reveals a destiny
to the extent that human beings have this innate knack for taking
(what they think) is the easiest path. When people gain more
understanding of of themselves, aware of their potentials they take
more control of their own life and thus become more "unpredictable."
Numerology is just a reflection of ones growth along a person's
path of life. The choice is always their's as to how they want
    to live on their path.
As some one mentioned in a previous reply, one "intuits" astrology.
At least I did when when I studied it. There were just too many
variables to keep track of for my simple mind. I have done many
charts on various people, many were spur of the moment, with people
I have never met before and it amazes me *EVERY* time, how accurate
they are. as it usually significantly impresses those I take the time to
    do an impromptu chart on.

Well I hope this cleared things up for you Jim and others, I could
go on for hours but must get on to other things now(work).

I have a question: an earlier answer refered to "full current name".

I have heard variations on this theme: modern people are restrained by
law in changing their name, and apart from changing names at marriage
(usually only women), or divorce few people actually change their names.
The theory I have heard goes something liek this:-

In more primitive times you were given a name at birth, and then when
you became an adult you acquired a "man-name" (for example all the european
surnames based on trades). You might also have a personal "medicine name".

    This translates to the following:

We have an "external" name - the full name as you sign a formal document,
which reduced numerologically gives us information about how the world
sees us or how we would like the world to see us.

We have an "internal" name - basically our personal nickname that we
use when thinking of ourselves, and that may ony be used by a few personal
friends. This can be reduced numerologically to give information on
    our inner self.

In my case my full name is "Ian Frederic Philpott" which reduces (if
I did the math right) to 1.

My "external" name is "Ian F. Philpott" which reduces to 2

my "internal" name is "xxx Philpott" (don't be nosy) which reduces to 3.

I'm no expert and don't know whether this is valid or not, but I have
heard it from a few sources.

Ok, I'm officially lost. But I did arrive at some interesting
    observations.

If I understand what I'm reading correctly here's what I'm left
    with...

Given name = Ann which reduces to 11 (hummmm)
given middle name = Renee which reduces to 11 (hummmm)
Married and maiden names both reduce to 4
Signature on legal forms reduces to 3

Which numbers should I be looking at?

Interesting side notes are that I was married on a date that reduces
to 11, the lisence plate that *THE DMV* assigned to me reduces to
11, my husband's lisence plate reduces to 11. When I do the same
for hubby...he comes up with 9's. Our address reduces to 9 and
day of our births both reduce to 9.

I did my numerology chart on a vtx system in Austrailia. If anyone
else wants to do theirs, here's the procedure....

    1. Get into the VTX corporate library listings.

    2. Look for " AUSSIE-TEX " under the " G.I.A. area " listings (usually
on the very last page of that whole list).

    3. Select the corresponding number (1, or 3 I think). The terminal
will come up with the AUSSIE-TEX main menu.

    4. Select the number associated with " Bulletin Board/Valu App .

    5. Once into tha Valu Applications, look for NUMEROLOGY and select
the associated number (#6 I believe).

    6. From then on, it's menu orientated and quite user friendly.

    Give it a try!

334.20numerology programREGENT::WAGNERTue Feb 16 1988 13:0233
Well, I Finally finished writing a program to do the numerology
calculations. Although it does not give an absolutely complete set of
calculations, it gives enough data to gain quite comprehensive set of
characteristics of an individual for the more knowledgeable numerologist.
Also it will give explanations for key elements in the chart such as
Path of Life, Soul Urge, Expression, Life Challenge, and current Personal
Year.
Run the program from your own account, and the program will create a file
called "chart.dat" in your current default directory. Please do not set
default to the directory where the numbers program resides as that will cause
the program to write the output file to my directory and the program will
crash out because of write violations to my directory.
I have run the program from other accounts and have other "test
sights" run it without run time problems, But there still may exist problems
with the algorithm to calculate the Soul Urge and Expression. Especially with
the letters "W" and "Y" as most of my references indicate that these letters
can be both vowels and consonants under certain conditions. If your name
contains a "W" united with another vowel and sounded as one, or a "Y" with
other vowels vowels following it in the same syllable, and the Soul Urge or
expression doesn't 'sound' like you please let me know so I may make
adjustments to the program.
If you do encounter a run-time error, in order to determine the
problem, I must be able to duplicate the problem with the same data that
crashed the program. (All data will be kept confidential.)
The command line used to run the program is:

	RUN REGENT::USER$C:[WAGNER.PERSONAL]NUMBERS

Again, please let me know of any problems you might have running the program
and the circumstances under which the problems occurred.

334.24Letters have meaning, tooREGENT::WAGNERThu Feb 18 1988 22:3831
    Thank you Carole for explaining.
Letters have their own meanings besides the numbers that they
are represented by. An "A" besides having the interpretation of the
number "1" also can mean New beginnings, changes. In the physical
realm it could mean change of residence, In the Emotional realm
it could mean new friends, new relationships and in the spiritual
realm could mean starting a period of spiritual growth of a positive
    nature.
My intent was not to do a complete synthesis of a chart, but create
a tool to use to assist in implimenting a synthesis of a chart.
The descriptions of a few key elements was added perhaps to pique
some interest in Numerology. I hope to add more explainations of
the remaining elements as time permits. The remaining unexplained
elements are not as directly important in their own right but are
important when constructing a complete chart in how they color the
Key core elements that are explained in "chart.dat"
I was wondering if there is sufficient interest to form an
interest group to learn more about numerology. The basics,
relationships, Work and job abilities, to areas that still need
more research such as unreduced numbers(I think they can contain
more information than other numerologist give credit to), or special
forms of kabalism Like the one discussed in the back of THE NUMBERS
OF LIFE by Kevin Quinn Avery. Or possibly other advanced studies
that might interest knowlegable "Scholars" of numerology such as
you, Carole, and others that already have the "basics" behind them.
Numbers (and letters) really do come alive, when they are understood.

    Hi Ernie,

Numerology has intrigued me for a long time. However, over the past
few years I have put more of my time into the study of astrology
and the development of my mediumistic abilities. I have always
felt that astrology and numerology can go hand and hand a bring
to the surface a fuller picture of the inner dynamics of a person
    than either can do alone.

Do you have a picture in mind of how this interest group would
function/be structured? I would certainly be interested in
participating to some extent in the near future, and perhaps
be able to give it more time once summer is here.

One of the things that I have found rather interesting is that
my numerological life path of 5 corresponds beautifully to my
astrological moon's north node of Gemini/1st House (which is
the point in my chart that I most need to develop).

Looking forward to hearing more from you....

334.27Thoughts on setting up a studyREGENT::WAGNERFri Feb 19 1988 11:3437
I think Astrology and Numerology could go hand in hand also. In
fact a few years ago I attempted to correlate some charts in
numerology with someone who did the same person with Astrology.
Although most of the same iinformation could be found in both charts,
there didn't seem to be any direct correlation of the data. Your
path of life number showed up with an aspect of the moon in astrology
someone elses path of life number might show up as an aspect of
the sun, or gemini or other planet. I think this is because the
basic purposes of numerology and astrology are slightly different,
so each field would have to be interpreted slightly "off purpose"
in order to arrive at identical results.
But If you can see some correlation either direct or indirect, I too
would like to get involved in comparison of the two fields some more.
I had attempted to study Astrology before I got solidly into
numerology, but it just seemed like there was just too much to try
to remember, What with all the houses and all the planets and all
their aspects. It was just too much for my feeble brain to try
to retain. Numerology seems so much simpler for me.
In terms of an intertest group, I was thinking of setting it
up similiar to the way some study astrology. That is, taking a
well known personality and doing a chart on that person, then using
that information to see what correlation the numbers have with the
personality's real life. Or a group of people could do each other's
chart and learn as they go. This also could provide some
significant insight to the self as one is learning numerology.
For example, I might say to run the data of myself that i used in
the numerology program example and tell me something I might not
know about myself. (of course then I'm going to deny everything)
really, though I think we know enough about ourselfs to assist each
other in learning more about numerology. This could be done through
mail although probably rather slowly, or in the form of a seminar
    every so often.
Well there may or may not be enough interest, and that type of learning
may or may not be appropriate but these are my thoughts on the matter.

I'm interested in an experiment to compare results derived from
numerology and astrology, although I'm thoroughly ignorant about
both. I do bring an advantage to such and experiment, however,
haveing already experienced over 40 years of life, and in possessing
different birth and current names. I would like to compare forecasts
from each with what I've experienced during the decades since 1945.

I am also interested in compiling various charts on my two children.
My son was born two weeks early, during moonset and sunrise on the
day of the grand alignment of the planets. My daughter was born
almost 18 months later. Each one has different and outstanding
aspects in their development. I'm teaching them things I expected
to teach 10-year-olds....I have also recently met my birth mother,
and I find I'm much more like the family I was born to than the
family which raised me. So, who can help me with charts???

As an admitted astrologer who also, occasionally, studies numerology,
I can say that I don't so much _compare_ the results of the two
systems as _blend_ them. I've not focused so much on name analysis
as birthday analysis. By looking at the numerological significance,
particularly of a birthday, one can gain added insight into Something
Else that might be in a person's frame of inner reality. If the
birthday reduces to a number that is compatible with the chart, the
person often seems to have few "consistency" problems. But if the
birthday number is of a very different quality from the energies in
the chart, it can possibly result in a more conflictual experience
of life, where one wonders often: what should I really be doing?
Really be going for? Really focus on? Another interesting observation
that I'm continuing to investigate: "soft" numbers for birthdays
    seem to have the effect of mellowing a toughie chart somewhat;
the reverse also seems to be true, but the positive side of that
is that "hard" numbers can give a softer chart more backbone, so
    to speak.

    Marcia,
when you say " If the birthday reduces to a number that is
compatible with the chart,..." by chart are you refering to the
astrology chart? In numerology the "softness" or "hardness" of
a number is determined by it's relationship with other numbers.
Generally, even numbers are receptive (female) except the four and eight.
and odd numbers are directive (male) except the nine. Generally
the even numbers agree with other even numbers (except the 4 and
    8) and odd numbers tend to agree with odd numbers.
the two, six, and nine deal with relationships:
    	2-serving-one on one type relationships
        6- serving-family or group relationships
9- serving-large scale or humanitarian scale relationships.
place where like numbers (odd or even) tend not to agree are in
places like the path of life and life challenge.
The odd numbers are more goal oriented type numbers.

I don't think a direct comparison can be made between the two
"sciences", but it is my nature toattempt to discern patterns, possibly
repeatable, to increase the usability and versatility and dependability
of both at least in my own mind.
There is a correlation between the basic numbers and the planets.
for example the 2 has the qualities of the Moon, the 5 has the
qualities of Mercury and I cannot remember the other 7 numbers and
their planetary equivalents, but the numbers seem quite representative
    of their assigned planets.

    .28 (I think)

Your background would an interesting study. Usually it's the
name and birthdate that appears on your birth certificate that
indicates the ruling influences. Did you officially have two birth
certificates? Of course, the Birth name and the given name may
or may not differ numerologically. I've seen this happen when some
women get married and take on the husbands' name. their name still
reduces down to the same numbers for Soul urge and Expression, as
their birth name. Again, Your birthdate cannot really change, so
the path of life you are here to learn and the challenge that goes
with it cannot change; only how you react to the circumstances
that influence your path of life, when you change your name.

    Hi all,

I've been thinking a bit more on the numerology/astrology link,
and my gut feeling is that a) they augment each other, and
    b) certain numbers parallel certain planetary positions/aspects/
points. I am going to do some checking with family charts where
I know I have the full birth name and complete birth data. A
couple of things I am going to look at are:

Comparison of the life path with the north node of the moon.
Comparison of the life challenge with Saturn and its apsects.
Current numerological personal year and current astrological
      transits.

Will let you know what I come up with.

    Have a good day :-)

Last week was occupied in class off site. The following information
on numbers and astrology is taken from the Numbers of Life by kevin
Quinn Avery. I'll leave it up to the readers to determine the
    accuracy:

    Sign number

    Aries 1
    Taurus 2
    Gemini 3
    Cancer 4
    Leo 5
    Virgo 6
    Libra 7
    Scorpio 8
    Saggitarius 9
    Capricorn 10=1
    Aquarius 11
    Pisces 12=3

The "Eleven" of Aquarius is not reduced.

    Regarding the planets:

-The Number "ONE" is associated with the Sun.
-The number "TWO" is associated with the Moon.
-The number "THREE" is associated with Jupiter.
-The number "FOUR" is associated with the Earth, and the negative
     aspects of the sun.
-The number "FIVE" is associated with Mercury, and in some aspects
     with Mars.
-The number "SIX" is associated with Venus.
-The number "SEVEN" is associated with Neptune, and the negative
     aspects of the Moon.
-The number "EIGHT" is associated with Saturn.
-The number "NINE" is associated with Mars, and in some aspects
Uranus, also with all of the other planets.
-The number "ELEVEN" is associated with Pluto.
-The number "TWENTY TWO" is associated with Uranus.

The next chart affiliates the numbers with the astrological elements:

    FIRE,	1 Originality, Creativity.
    		3 Self-expression
    		9 Universal Love
    AIR,	5 Understanding
    		6 Responsibility
    	       11 Universal understanding, faith
    EARTH,	4 Work
    		6 Responsibility to family
    		8 Material aspects
    WATER,	2 Personal emotions
    		7 Universal understanding
    	       22 Universal emotions

    Carole,

If you could get it down to two or three astrological aspects
for each Numerological aspect, That would definitly "Tighten things
up" between Numerology and Astrology. I have just discovered a
section in "The Numbers of Life" that I have over looked all these
years. I've ownedthree copies of it over the last ten years or
so. Any way there is a passage on page 101 indicating that the main
path of life is associated with the Sun. The Karmic lessons are
associated with Saturn, The soul Urge is the Moon, and the first
    vowel is the planet Venus.
If you woud like help with "in depth" interpretations of the
numbers in any particular aspect such as the numbers behind the
Soul Urge or how the higher octave (if any) of the soul urge or
other aspect modify the core aspects I would be glad to help. This
might help "fine tune" a particular numerological aspect to a
    particular astrological aspect.

334.34Basic meaning of NumbersREGENT::WAGNERSun Mar 06 1988 18:22107
Following are the basic meanings of the numbers. It is the
free will of each person to choose the positive or negative aspects
of his or her own destiny. The Destiny cannot be escaped from,
but the positive or negative aspects are by choice. Presented will
be what must be overcome with any given number, what to expect if
this is done, what to expect if this is not done. Those who live
the nine year cycle in a positive way will reap the rewards. Those
who live in the negative manner will find themselves at the end
of the nine year period no furthur ahead than the previous nine
years, in many cases stripped of everything. Worse, they may carry
old lessons into the new cycle. Numerology is not fortune telling,
it is instead, a way to understand through knowledge of numbers.

334.36Saga of the NumbersREGENT::WAGNERWed Mar 09 1988 14:25330
The following is a basic description of the numbers. It's also somewhat of a
kabalistic interpretation. The reference to male as positive and female as
negative does not imply "good" or "bad" qualities, but only directions from an
"androgynous" center point.

The ONE:

THE ONE IS THE ASPIRATION OF MAN. The number One means exactly what
it implies: it is God in the heavens, the devil in the lower regions, Man on
the Earth. It is the Sun in the solar system. It is the heart in the body.
It is the beginning; it is masculine, it is alone, it is positive. It is the
first card of the Tarot. The Magician or juggler. It is unity, it is
universal. It has passion, activity, mentality. It is the center of all, the
assertion over all. The one is comprised of a single stroke running up and
down. The One is attainment, drive, success. In the beginning there was Adam
in the Garden of Eden, he was number One. As Adam ruled the garden, so the One
rules the entire span of numbers. As the solar system revolves around the Sun,
so does the spectrum of numbers revolve around the one.
A person must distinguish himself from other people and acknowledge
his own INDIVIDUATION. The individual has to develop the capability of
standing on his own and going from dependency to INDEPENDENCE. Once
independent, the person becomes aware of his potential for ATTAINMENT as an
individual-for creating and pioneering when working alone-to leading and
managing as an individual working with others.

the TWO:

THE TWO IS THE DUALITY OF MAN. The Two is the dual, the ancient
Greeks called it the Duad. It is feminine, negative. It is the woman, and
mother. As the Moon reflects the Sun, so does woman reflect man, as the
mother associates with father, so does the two associate with the One. As
the Two works in conjunction with the one, so does woman work in conjunction
with man. It is marriage. The two is togetherness. It is the second card of
the Tarot. The High Priestess. Its element is water. The one and two work
well together. The Two true to it's feminine traits, is full of uncertainty,
change, emotions, vacillation. It therefore represents divorce. It is
agreement, but it is also separation. It is relationship with emotion and
doubt. It is passive, consummation. It is isolation. It is profit and loss.
The Two possessing the wisdom of woman, is both love and hate. It further
means togetherness, association, marriage, sex,and in regard to other matters,
subservience.
Independence is important but it has its limitations. There are other
people all about. And another lesson involves being a meaningful part of a
group-a small group like family or friends, a larger group like a business or
community. The person must learn adaptability, service, consideration for
others. ie. the meaning of RELATION with others, the idea of COOPERATION.

The Three:

THE THREE IS THE EXPRESSION OF MAN. The sign of the trinity and the triangle.
The three is birth, The expression of the One and the Two joined together. It
is destiny of the One (man) and the Two (woman) it is their faith, their
soul. It is the sum total of their creation, birth. The Three associated with
the horn of plenty., the bountiful harvest, good luck, fruitfulness. The
creation of joining fire (One) with Water (Two) creates a powerful steam
force. The correct element of the Three is Air, with vibrations of Fire,
Water, also Earth. It is the third card of the Tarot. The Empress meaning
fertility, holding in her hand the orb of the world. The three is marriage,
versatility, expansion, riches, success, attainment. The Three will bring
good fortune, acquisition, increase. The Three works well with the Six and
Nine,as well as with the One, and the Two. The Three will react with mental
creations when joined with the Nine, Four, and Five. With Six it tends
towards expression in the arts.
A person must discover, both as an individual and as a group member,
his capability of EXPRESSION: (1) artistic expression-writing, painting,
sculpting, singing or any of the many other means of expressing inner thoughts
and emotions, and (2) expression of feelings toward others-friendship,
affection, love. the JOY OF LIVING can be expressed with optimism and
enthusiasm. There can be purity, even a naivete here. This is perhaps the
most enjoyable lesson of all numbers.

The FOUR:

THE FOUR IS THE LIMITATION OF MAN. The man (1) has joined with the
woman (2); their expression (3) was the birth. The Four, whose element is
Water, in itself represents all four elements, fire, earth, air, water. It is
also the embodiment of the spirit, mind, soul, body of man. Now must the
triangle face the four square. Now begins the struggle for existence. The
grim battle for manifestation, order, completion, growth, endurance,
accomplishment, discovery, understanding, order. Now the triangle and man
must get along, to form a solid creation of building to create what is needed.
Now must man sacrifice himself through work and hardship, in order to grow, to
achieve, to understand. The fourth card of the Tarot, the Emperor, represents
the authority of man in his grim struggle. The Four is growth, completion of
man's spirit, his mind, body, soul, pitted against the four elements via the
hard task of work, endurance. Man is to build, achieve, plant; This he must
do by the sweat of his brow. The Two will often get along with the numbers
Two through Seven. The Four will bring prosperity and position, if man will
apply himself to work. Escape from work means drudgery, limitation; and those
who try to evade the four square will bear the cross upon their shoulders.
The Four is the planet Earth, and thus earth bound and limited.
Life doesn't always present opportunities for singing and laughing.
Life doesn't always appear expansive or yours for the taking. Often, it feels
just the opposite. The individual must learn the difficult law of LIMITATION.
Everyone has limitations-limitations presented by the environment, by the
physical body, by the restrictions of the individual's viewpoints. Rather
than struggle against these limits, it is necessary to learn to live with
them, to accept them and to make a meaningful existence, not in spite of the
limitations, but BECAUSE of the limitations. it is a difficult lesson. The
individual embarking on this course must learn system and organization, ORDER
on a practical level. He must be prepared to be of SERVICE to others.

The FIVE:

THE FIVE IS THE EXPANSION OF MAN. In the number Four, man has built
his life, his home. Now with the Five, he starts to look around, to employ his
fifth sense. The Five is the expansion of man, the growth, breadth,
aspiration. With the Five, man is seeking the universal life, he needs his
freedom, and independence to find it. At the end of the path, man will find
understanding of justice and faith, but during his travels along the path he
will find adventure, pleasure, happiness, union. The Five is associated withe
the sensual aspects of man. The fifth card of the Tarot, The Pope or
Hierophant, is the one who beckons man away from the worldly concerns. The
Five is further associated with alliance or marriage. The element of the Five
of course is air; associated with the planet mars signifies freedom, change.
The five could bring misfortune, possible evil, especially in the sensual. In
order for man to enjoy the freedom of the Five, it is necessary that he be
free of financial problems, so the Five could bring an upswing in finances.
The Five means activity, change, expansion, freedom, independence; it pertains
to love associations, marriage, sensuality. The Five is reason, travel,
commerce. As sure as the rewards are, so the punishments for backsliding are
just as swift, for man must learn to use his new freedom correctly or the only
changes he will find will be unpleasant. The transit of the Five will bring
with it anxiety, worry, restlessness. The Five gets along with other Fives,
better than with any other number.
There is a time for expansion, for dealing with change, unexpected
happenings, adventure. This lesson usually gives a person an abundance of
talents in every direction, the capability of accomplishing almost anything
for which an opportunity is presented-and many opportunities ARE presented.
With the freedom that this abundance of talent and opportunity brings, life
can be exciting. But the lesson is more difficult: The individual must learn
the CONSTRUCTIVE use of FREEDOM. The individual must not waste his many
talents or misuse his ongoing opportunities; he must not get lost in solely
physical desires-food, sex, alcohol, drugs. He must not scatter his potential
and end up with frustration. He must make a meaningful existence by using
freedom productively.

The SIX:

THE SIX IS THE HARMONY OF MAN. Man in traveling his path of freedom
discovers loneliness.  In his loneliness he seeks love and affection, marriage;
but in this marriage, he must learn to accept the responsibility and make the
adjustments or he will find trouble, divorce. The element is both earth and
air. The planet is Venus. The sixth card of the Tarot tells the very
informative story of The Lovers. The symbol us expressed by a young man
standing between two women, one representing vice, the other virtue; One the
happy home, the secure marriage, the other the negative Five path of
sensuality. there is a conflict here caused by passion. The card means
union or re-union as well as antagonism. Above the Lovers floats the Spirit
of Justice. Justice is ready to shoot the vice, and man if necessary, to put
man on the correct path of beauty, universal love. The Six is the number of
entanglement, it means marriage, divorce, responsibility, adjustments,
obligations. It means peace, solutions, pleasure. It gets along with the
Three and Nine, sometimes with the One to Four/ It does not get along with
the Five, and especially not with the Eight. The six means harmony, discord.
It means cooperation, attainment, sex.
A person must learn to give the beauty of love and harmony, sympathy
and understanding, protection and BALANCE. Along with the balancing, the
lesson of RESPONSIBILITY can be a meaningful one. the individual may find
himself responsible for more than what rightly seems his share. Others will
recognize his strength, and he may be expected to help them if they are in
need and cannot help themselves. He will probably be the one who holds the
family together, who harmonizes and adjusts difficult situations. He may
choose to limit himself to his family, his friends, possibly the close
community. The friendship and LOVE the individual expresses to others will
come back to him from those he helps. He can bask in the glory of a job well
done and the quiet reward of friendship and love returned.

The SEVEN:

THE SEVEN IS THE PERFECTION OF MAN. The cosmic number, the number of
God, the day of rest. Man on his journey finds that he needed to rest, and to
meditate in order to attain perfection. In caring for his body, he found that
his mind also needed caring for in matters of religion; He became concerned
with his spirit, and therefore, necessarily, the spirit of God. The seventh
card of the Tarot is the Chariot, representing the divinity in the human,
winging his way to heaven in control and triumph. The Seven has long been
associated with royalty, honor, fame, as well as rest and happiness. It can
bring success, greatness, and triumph, if not actively sought after. The
Seven is powerful for public dealings. It brings with it change, uncertainty,
vacillation. It works well with the Two. It will get along with the One to
Four. It is disaster pitted against the Eight. The transition of the Seven
can bring harmony, wisdom, perfection, completion, balance, immortality. It
can bring agreement, treaties, peace. It can also bring discord, death, loss,
loneliness, misery, poverty. The positive is for those with faith who seek
nothing whatsoever for themselves, the negative is for the others.
There is a time for introspection, a time to subject all an individual
knows to mental ANALYSIS, so that eventually a person possesses much of
knowledge and UNDERSTANDING. Spiritual awareness is employed and emphasis on
material matters avoided. Desire or material accumulation will probably lead
the individual off the track, for this is a time for study and meditation, a
time to know oneself, in the deepest way.
There will be much time spent alone and the person must learn to be
alone and not feel isolated. Often, the individual will appear "different" to
others. His way of thinking or doing things may be very much his own and may
seem inexplicable to his fellow man. He must accept that he IS on a different
wavelength and find satisfaction in that. In a world where materialism rates
so highly, the road for the counselor, the professor, the pure researcher may
be a difficult one.

The EIGHT:

THE EIGHT IS THE MANIFESTATION OF MAN. After his rest, man must return
to his struggle. The Eight, in one respect, has long been associated with
power, rulership, material aspects. The Eight, however, by the very substance
of it's being is a split number with two Zeros, placed on top of each
other. This power or money could well go the other way. As much as it
promises, it is destructive. The eighth card of the Tarot is Justice. The
Planet is Saturn, the planet of fate and karma. Here will man be held
responsible for his actions. In the hands of justice are the scales of
balance, proportion. The Eight is concerned with material aspects, power. It
is the path of the growth of man. It's element is the earth. The ancient Greeks
held that all things end with the Eight, that Eight signifies the completion.
The number has long been considered unfortunate. Many people consider that
because the Eight represents monetary attraction, it is good. The number
Eight in the path of man is for growth, accumulation, knowledge,
understanding. The understanding of material aspects is needed as is the
understanding of power. This is the correct aspect of the path of the
Eight. The Eight , being a split number, when divided, results in two hard
Fours. The leftover karma from past lives consisting of 13, 14, 16, 19 are
usually collected during their transit of the Eight. This is the time the
bills are paid. The bills may be of the spirit rather than of matter. The
Eight is reaction, revolution, fracture, rupture, segregation, anarchism,
death, decay, loss. The philosophic Eight brings with it delay,
disappointment, fatality, privation, loneliness, stagnation, evil, deception,
trickery. With finances or the acquisition of power, it will bring either loss
or gain. The most difficult number to be paired with the Eight is the Four.
The individual must learn to deal with the material things in life,
the practical matters. He will find himself at home in the business world,
with much capability as an efficient administrator or executive. He will
learn how to handle money, how to accumulate it, how to spend it wisely. The
individual will work for MATERIAL SATISFACTION. This may mean emphasis on
money to buy the best houses, cars, furnishings, trips. (Perhaps, if he can
reach the highest level of this lesson, he will see that material freedom can
mean relying very little on money or material matters. Few ever gain this
insight.)
The individual will be very conscious of status in relation to
material things and will work to satisfy his need for status to prove his
superiority. He may appear single minded, rigid or stubborn to others.
Striving for power and high material goals may make him aware of the
limitations of his ability or the restrictions of his circumstances.

The NINE:

THE NINE IS THE COMPLETION OF MAN. Many scholars interested in the
numbers hold to the ancient Greek theory that all things end at Eight. The
cycle of man is Nine. the ninth card of the Tarot, The hermit, represents
the withdrawal of man for the purpose of meditation upon life, in order to
gain wisdom and to teach. The Hermit, aloof, alone, is the embodiment of all
knowledge. the Nine with the element fire is the knowledge of human or
universal love. Man has traveled on his path of life from the beginning (1)
through association (2), to expression (3), suffered the toils of work (4),
enjoyed, learned through the expansion and freedom (5), accepted, loved (6),
meditated, enriched his spirit (7), directed, led, achieved (8), and now in
the Nine, has all the encompassing knowledge of the cycle of man. This is the
time for love without boundaries. The seed man has planted in the beginning,
toiled over, cultivated (1), will now in the Nine be harvested. the Nine has
been associated with imperfection, grief, but only with suffering can man
achieve the great love. It has further been associated with prosperity. It
is a number that can be either fortunate or unfortunate, for what is planted,
must be the fruits of the harvest. The transit of the Nine brings emotional
change, loss, strife, violence, privation, enterprise, anger, dreaming,
traveling, going forth, energy, penetration, regeneration, intensity of
purpose, freedom, zeal. The Nine is the end. It is impulsive, it is
successful, it is failure.
There is a time to learn the satisfaction of giving to his fellow man.
This is a difficult lesson. The satisfaction comes from giving. There is
little reward-the love and friendship are sometimes returned, the obligation
often not repaid. The person must place all others before himself, must give
for the sheer pleasure of giving, because he has learned the ultimate
satisfaction of SELFLESSNESS and HUMANITARIANISM. The individual gives (1) by
helping others or (2) by giving of himself in some form of creative ex
pression.

The Eleven:

THE ELEVEN IS THE REVELATION OF MAN. One plus one = Eleven = Freedom
from the negative path of the Two. The element of Eleven is air, the element
of Two is water. Freedom of air over confinement of water. Man in this cycle
has become the messenger of the gods. He will be given inspiration, his
pursuit to follow its revelation. Under the Eleven, man can attain the
heights, be master of all. The Eleven is spiritual, humanitarian. The number
is considered bad for material aspects, but in all other matter is fortunate.
The eleventh card of the Tarot is Strength. Its message is courage, spiritual
power. The fall from the Eleven to the Two would be a long hard one. The
Eleven will bring success, fame. The negative path is the negative path of
the Two with poverty and discord added.
The master numbers exist on a higher spiritual plane than the single
digits. The first master number, the 11, must work to develop intuition, to
tune into psychic forces not available to those with lower numbers. He must
stand ready to be a channel with a message from above. In his life, he must
inspire by his own example, living in the way revealed to him, spreading his
ILLUMINATION for others to absorb and benefit. This number is as difficult as
it is rewarding.
Often, particularly at an early age, the individual is aware of his
special powers, yet unable to synthesis them for his own use or for the good
of his fellow man. He is often a relatively impractical idealist, far more a
dreamer than doer. There is an undercurrent of nervous tension always present
from the high power sources to which the individual is attuned. He has to
learn to live with his special powers, to set himself aside from the world of
material accumulation in order to better understand the powerful forces which
can reveal a higher guidance.

The Twenty two:
THE TWENTY TWO IS THE MASTERY OF MAN. The ultimate expression of
love, wisdom, mastery. This is the path of the master number. the number of
the mystic. But Two plus Two = four, in this case the high octave Four. To
fall from the Twenty Two would bring on the most unfortunate circumstances. It
foretells of accidents, restraints. Its symbol would be the final card of the
tarot, The Fool, who is falling over a cliff. The fool is the positive inner
force which influences gratification of the flesh.
The second master number, the 22, is potentially capable of combining
the idealism of the first master number, the 11, with the ability to put these
ideals into a concrete form. Enormous power is available to him to produce on
a significant scale, for the benefit of humanity. When this potential can be
realized, the individual becomes a MASTER BUILDER, capable of feats well
beyond all others.
Few with this number can marshal their forces to reach anywhere near
the ultimate potential. The individual is aware of the forces within him,
aware also of the nervous tension that accompanies these forces. He spends
his time grappling with powers that are difficult to comprehend and use.
Often, he is seen by his fellow men as a person with enormous potential who
has not, for some unexplained reason, been able to fully use his capabilities.
The highest potential is also the most difficult to reach.

RE: .38,.39 (recovery from lost connection)

Another method -- a little more work, a little less "hacky":

Say to the notes command prompt:

    	EVE BUFFER NOTES$EDIT

You will then be editing your note again.

Hit the DO key for your terminal (check HELP within the EVE editor
to figure out what key this is) then type

    	WRITE <some-filename> <CR>

Then hit EXIT (control-Z) and you will be back in NOTES where you
left off, you can then further edit, WRITE or REPLY at your leisure.

Of course, this can only be done until you do another WRITE or REPLY
or leave NOTES -- all of which wipe the buffer.

Although I don't quite subscribe to numerology, 9 seems to be my lucky
number and 13 is my unlucky number.

I just moved. I now live on the 9th floor of a building with 13
floors. My new phone number is 621-8554.
    6+2+1=9. 8+5=13. 5+4=9.

So here we have my unlucky number penned in by my lucky number.
Also, 85 was the worst year of my life while 54 is the year of my
birth. And if you add up all the digits in the phone number, you
get 31 which is 13 backwards.

So what does all this mean?

reduce we get 4. Now if we add your age digits we get 3+4=7 plus
the 4 we got before we have 11. Now if we add the floor you live

re; .42 and .43 - A lot of people say, wouldn't it be wonderful if John
actually had enough interest in this stuff to not bash it all the time. He
finally shows the interest, and now *he* gets bashed. Let's take advantage of
this golden opportunity to see if numerology can fit in to what John thinks and
feels about his life.

John, I didn't bring my numerology notes today. I'll see you tomorrow, same
place, with them; the following information would help;

Bring your entire birthdate; mine is 11-04-1959 which takes down to 30 which
takes down to 3. My birth number is 3. It would also help to have your
complete name, since letters of your name correspond to a number, as well.
That way, your life numbers can adequately be written. As for the numbers that
keep showing up for you, I will write out their interpretation tomorrow when I
have my notes.

Take care,
Meredith

Well ok it's the day after. Yesterday was just a strange day...

13 - Regeneration, Change

13 is not an unlucky number, as many people believe. The ancients claimed that
"he who understands how to use the number 13 will be given power and dominion."
The symbol of 13 is a skeleton, or death, with a scythe, reaping down men in a
field of new-grown grass, where young faces and heads appear to be thrusting
through the ground and emerging on all sides. 13 is a number of upheavel, so
that new ground may be broken. It's associated with power, which, if used for
selfish purpose, will bring destruction upon itself. There is a warning of the
unknown and the unexpected. Adapting to change gracefully will bring out the
strength of the 13 vibration, and decrease potential for negative. 13 is
associated with genius - also with explorers, breaking the orthodox and new
discoveries of all kinds.

9 - Aggressive action, penetration, courage, conflict; originality and
initiative, as well as the contradictory traits of vulnerability and naivete.

9 people are not stubborn, but they are determined to get what they want, and
there is a difference. Stubbornness reacts and determination initiates. 9
brings a tendency to be impulsive and make snap decisions, later regretted.
Although the temper will flare frequently, these people are quick to both
forgive and forget an injury. They're vulnerable to enemies because their
first instinct is to trust everyone. Since they're so direct themselves, they
expect others to be the same - and others often are not. Deviousness and
manipulatoin always come as a shock to 9 people.

One of the most beneficial virtues of the 9 vibration is the ability to
penetrate straight to the heart or the core of a situation instead of indulging
in circumlocution and the slow process of analysis. The Mars rulership of 9
allows these people to get directly to the point swiftly, and this makes them
extremely impatient of slow thinkers, which doesn't help them win popularity
contests.

The catch-phrase "what you see is what you get" perfectly describes the 9
personality because ofthe complete lack of guile. It's against the very
essence of the 9 vibration to plan complex strategies or to play games to get
what they want from people. It's much easier to simply demand what they want.
9 people usually get what they want by catching the other person by surprise.
Many people are touched by the visible vulnerability and childlike quality of
the 9 person, and feel protective toward him or her; others see these qualities
as foolish, one of the reasons that 9 people are seldom truly respected by
friends and business associates - until that Mars temper and courageous spirit
comes forth, like a battle cry, and those who underestimated the 9 vibration's
pure energy will take a sudden, shocked step backward.

There's a strong tendency toward vanity. At least that's the way it appears on
the surface. But 9 people are not vain, even though they are admittedly almost
constantly concerned with their appearence. The true root of this attitude is
fear of rejection, because, beneath all the bravado, 9 people inwardly tremble
with a lack of confidence. As self-assertive as they may seem, they need
continual reassurance that they are liked, respected and admired, and loved.
For all the pushiness and independent airs of 9 people, they're secretly very
unsure of themselves. Generous to a fault and normally extravagant, 9 people
need no lessons in giving. The first instinct is to give, let go, and let
tomorrow take care of itself.

-Copied without permission from Linda Goodman's Star Signs - The Secret Codes
of the Universe-

John - Those descriptions should at least give you a basic idea of the
surrounding vibrations of 13 and 9. They are written with the intent that
those are your personal numbers, either your name number (when you add up all
the numbers that correspond to the letters of your name) or your birth number.
In this case, they could just be what you consider to be lucky or unlucky about
your surroundings.

Incidentally, there are those who give Linda Goodman little creedance. But
then, there are those who give very few people any creedance at all...

Saying that you are numerologically a 6 is something like saying
that you're a Libra. There are a lot of numbers that you can get,
and depending on how you get them, a different meaning.

Still, all of the 9's are interesting. Must mean that you're a
great person. After all, I've always lived in a place with a house
number of 9, in my adult life, anyway.
