| | I don't think that there is much question that a locale may induce
    a particular feeling.

The question is whether this is due to:

    	1) Psychological reactions to things sensed in the usual way,
e.g., a particular form of visual symmetry producing a sense
    	   of security and order.

    	2) Physiological/psychological reactions by more or less known
reactions to relatively unusual conditions, e.g., strong
    	   subsonics shaking the internal organs.

    	3) Physiological/psychological reactions to more controversial
conditions (or rather that the body responds to them is
controversial), e.g., atomospheric ion ratio or low frequency
radio waves from high tension lines.

    	4) Forces completely unknown to physical science.

1 is clearly very important, and a large part of modern architecture,
urban planning, landscaping etc. is devoted to learning about and
using its principles. 2 is uncontroversial but it is an open question
about how frequently it is relevant. The other two are wide open.

    This is interesting! Good reply.

Proust, in *Remembrances of Things Past*, recounts how certain
places consistently made him feel. I remember especially a passage
    on his parents attic.

In fact, the opening chapter, "Overture," is an excellent literary
account of the sleep/dream world; those interested in the experience
of memory, the pre-sleep state, and so on, should read it.

Getting into a more psychic type discussion on this issue.

As has been discussed elsewhere in this file, especially under the
topic titled "Looking for Power Spots", there are places with more
than normal energy, which can be positive or negative.

Cause? Depends who you ask, and each particular place. Some may
be caused by the presence of devas or other entities, which can
be benevolent, malevolent, or neutral. If you ask a dowser, you
will probably be told about meridian lines and the resulting energy
of when they cross. If you ask a shaman, you will be told that
certain spots have power which can be used by persons who are able
and willing to use it. A place can also pick up some of the energy
put there by a particular event that occurred there - a battle,
someone's home, a murder, or almost anything else along that line.
