On 31 December [1986] - 1 January 1987, the Sun, Moon, and Earth
were in a position that caused much higher than usual high tides.
Both the new and full moon are reputed to have significance, both
from, an occult standpoint and from reports on police, fire, and
other records (radio talk-show hosts indicate, too) that there is
an increase in aberrant behavior among the general populace.
Anyone notice anything unusual?

From my point of view, it's hard to separate the effects of the
syzygy from those of the World Healing Meditation that occurred
on the morning of the 31st. In any event, December 31, 1986 was
an incredibly powerful day.

P.S. On the 1st, our causeway flooded over while we were out of
town and we were forced to "seek refuge" with our friend
Lois who lives in Lynn. We spent a pleasant few hours
having lunch and watching a movie on her VCR.

My sinuses definitely noticed it--ow, ow ow. And that was days
before the storm (in the winter I tend to have "weather sinuses")
and long before I'd had anything to drink. I was actually quite
circumspect that night since I'd felt so punk that day.
My body also suddenly retained water like mad, then "flushed" just
as hard the next day. This lunation conjuncted my Mercury--and
I have been having very strong dreams ever since (this effect I
bet could continue through the month).
