223.0. "The Unicorn Bookstore has a New Home" by BLUES::MASON (The law of KARMA hasn't been repealed) Thu Oct 16 1986 12:46

For those of you who live in Boston, or just West of Boston, The
Unicorn Book Store (formally in Lexington) has just re-opened in Arlington
Hights, on the corner of Mass Ave and Appleton Streets.

I stopped by there yesterday, and was impressed. One of the owners
greeted me graciously, and gave me a tour of the store, which is on the
first floor of an old Victorian house.

They have books on all subjects related to spirituality,
eastern/western philosophy and religion, self help, wicca, crystals,
herbs, astrology, tarot, etc. They have an excellent children's
section, and they also have tapes, candles, crystals
(not a great selection of crystals, but they just opened!).

They're in the process of adding a tea room, and I suppose that there
might eventually be people doing readings there. I know that they are
    offering seminars/workshops in related areas.

It's definately worth a visit...I know I'll be back there many times
    to come.

Where is Arlinton Heights? (i.e what T stop is closest)

A while back, a friend (Shaman) recommended a shop her group
was affiliated with, is this the same?

     Many thanks, John

Arlington Heights is the section of Arlington between Arlington
center and Lexington. The "closest" T stop is Alewife, but if
you are coming from in town you should get off at Porter Square.

Get on the 77 bus outbound (it goes up Mass Ave). You should go
past Arlington center, then ask the bus driver to let you off
near the Dunkin Donuts (about a mile or maybe a little more past
the center). The Unicorn Book Store is across the street and
back the way you came half a block.
