I assume you mean Digital UNIX?
I don't know what -s2 is. We do have -S0 and -S1 support in amake/ald for
making shared (or not) images.
Did you make a typo, or have I just explained why it isn't there (ie I don't
know what it is? ;-).

3869.2 | ? | FLOYD::YODER | It's 999,943 to 1 but it just might work | Fri May 02 1997 16:32 | 4 |
| I've not seen this option before, and don't find it in my documentation.
Could you point me to where you found it?
There's -S0 and -S1 (with a capital S), but no -s2 or -S2 that I can find.

3869.3 | -S2; Quick Link | KMOOSE::CMCCUTCHEON | Charlie McCutcheon | Mon May 05 1997 11:00 | 13 |
| I think I found it, in V3.2 release notes:
The Quick Link feature is activated when the -S2 option
is specified to the ald command.
Now for the possibly embarassing question. Is V3.3 no longer allowing
-S2, or did we merely drop it from the documentation?
The only work I remember us doing for V3.3 in command switches was to
add compile -arch and -tune. I really doubt we intentionally disabled
this switch...

3869.4 | -S2 in ADA v3.3? | RHETT::HALETKY | | Mon May 05 1997 18:40 | 9 |

Customer wonders what is up with it.
Is -S2 part of ADA v3.3?

| We did nothing intentional to remove it.
Did your customer notice it missing from documentation, or is ald/amake
now failng if they give -S2?
(Sorry, I should try this out, but I'm juggling several things right now...)

3869.6 | Support or not suported | RHETT::HALETKY | | Tue May 06 1997 14:52 | 6 |
| Hello,
Cusotmer wishes to know if its still supported. Since it is not int he
docs it is hard to tell them it is.

| The feature is in our SPD, so we think its supported:
o Quick Link - This feature can significantly reduce, during incre-
mental program development, the time to relink a large DEC Ada pro-
gram after changes to a small number of program units.
I know of no engineering reasons why we would have changed support.
IE, UNIX ld suddenly pulled support for the magic switch we use, etc..
I would have to educate myself on the feature in order to be able
to test it, to be sure we didn't break it in V3.3. I'm not finding any
obvious tests in our test system for this feature (which is strange,
since I know who did the work...).
My reaction so far, is that we would have to accept a problem report on it,
and I know of no reason why we wouldn't want to support it.
I'm assuming at this time that your customer doesn't have a case where
this is indeed broken, but is asking about the apparent change in documentation.

Hello,
Yes this is correct. They are asking about the apparent change to the
docs. If its int he release notes I shall tell them its supported for
now.
