A network kit is now available for DEC Ada Version 3.3 for Digital
UNIX.
NOTE
Please see note 2695 for terms and conditions of
this field test kit. This information is
important, and describes conditions for using and
releasing this kit.
This is a follow on release to DEC Ada V3.2.
New features added for this release:
o Unix 4.0n support.
o Updated Technical Summary and Compatibility Guide.
o Updated Developing Ada Programs on Digital UNIX systems.
o Enhanced Portability Summary; see Compatibility Guide.
o gprof profiler support.
o -arch and -tune compiler switches.
o Problem fixes; see release notes.
DEC Ada requires a License Management Facility (LMF) PAK loaded on
the system to install and test DEC Ada. Internal users can obtain
a PAK from VTX PAK. The LMF product names for DEC Ada on Digital
UNIX are:
o ADAO - DEC Ada
o ADAO-PDO - Professional Development Option

notesfile.
1 RELEASE NOTES INFORMATION
We have an online copy of the field test release notes for your
convenience.

We suggest that you read these carefully before installing DEC Ada
Version 3.3.
In particular, the following points should be noted, with
references to the release notes:
o This kit requires Unix 3.2G, 4.0, or 4.0B.
o Unix 3.2G support, a new libada runtime, ADALIB322.
o Unix 4.0 support. We support UNIX 4.0, and recommend UNIX
4.0B. See release notes for details.
You must install ADALIB401, supplied on this kit.
ADALIB331, submitted to UNIX 4.0 and 4.0A is not supported.
ADALIB400, submitted to UNIX 4.0B has minor problems with
setting task priorities described in the release notes, but is
otherwise identical to ADALIB401.
o This kit requires recompiling V3.2 Ada libraries due to a
change in Ada program library format.
2 INSTALLATION INFORMATION
The kit is located in on node exrad, /public/ADA330. The decnet
address of exrad is 2.656. The Internet address of
exrad.zko.dec.com is 16.31.32.52 The kit is a tar file of a setld
kit.
Please refer to the V3.3 installation guide in
/public/ADA330/IGUIDE.*
prior to installing the product. We are expecting to update that
guide later in this release.
The following steps are suggested for installing:
1. Install Ada PAK; get from VTX PAK.
2. Create and cd to local directory to contain the kit.
3. Copy the kit
Compiler:
dcp exrad::/public/ADA330/ADA330.tar .
One of the runtimes:
dcp exrad::/public/ADA330/ADALIB401.tar .
dcp exrad::/public/ADA330/ADALIB322.tar .
NOTE
ADALIB401 is for Unix 4.0 only. ADALIB331,
which shipped with UNIX 4.0 and 4.0A is not
supported.
ADALIB322 is for UNIX 3.2G only.
4. Unpack the tar files
tar xmpf ADA330.tar
tar xmpf ADALIB[401|322].tar
5. Install kit with setld
setld -d <any previous ADA*320 kit>
setld -l <load from disk>
Install ADALIB401 for UNIX 4.0n, or ADALIB322 for UNIX 3.2G.
6. Verify installation
setld -v ADABASE330
