| I work with a guy who used to be a golf pro and he isn't familiar with
Texan Four Ball, however, he did suggest you put your request for help
in the golf notes file (if you haven't already). Just add entry
MSEE::GOLF.

PJ,
First off, I have no idea what a Texas 4-ball is, but I do know
that if your limited to 3 hrs, plan on a 9 hole tournament.
Anyway, the tournament I think is best for all levels of hackers
is a scramble (which just might be a Texas 4-ball).
4 person teams. Everyone hits their tee shot. You decide which
is the best drive and the other 3 people would then pick up their
golf balls, go over to where the best drive ended up and all 4 of
you would hit from there. You continue this way until you reach
the green. Decide which putt is easiest and everyone putts from
that spot.
If that isn't too clear, or you need more info, you can contact
me via VAXmail at WFOOFF::MORRISON. If you send anything ALL-IN-1
I'll get it, but I'm not sure how to address it.

Thanks for the help!!
It looks like "Texan 4 Ball" is a version of Mike's Scramble.
The only uncertainty is...how do you score???
When I get the rules, I'll post them!

Re. Scoring
After you all hit your drive and decide which is the
best, that's consider 1 stroke. The 4 of then hit your second
shots and decide which is best (for this example we'll say that
the best ball is on the green). You've now taken your 2nd shot.
If one of you makes the putt, you have a 3. The team score is 3.
It's sort of like 1 person going out and playing 4 balls at a
time.
If you want to make the teams even, have 1 good player, 2
average players and 1 players who's only played miniature golf :^>
