what's the word on kenny walker. is he on the ir?
also, i noticed that wilkins didn't start last night.
i wonder how he would play at small forward splitting
time with newman.
any word on kiki, although i think he's not their answer
for offense?

Walker has a sore knee. He missed Saturday's game and last night's game. He's
"Very questionable" for the rest of the week.

Kiki's latest injuries are tendinitis in his left foot and minor burns from a
recent accident. He took his first scrimmage with the team on Monday and hopes
to rejoin the team in mid-to-late March.

how the heck did kiki get tendinitis? he hasn't been doing anything
I have to feel he was a wasted trade. The knicks need someone to step
it up a notch. Their bench just hasn't been cutting it.
G.Wilkins, Jackson and Tucker seem to be competing for most
inconsistent player award.

No, they just aren't as good as their record indicates. They are
fortunate to be in what is far and away the weakest division in the
NBA. There record vs. teams that have a .600 or better record when they
play them is 5-17.

Knicks opened camp on Tuesday. Mark Jackson has dropped some pounds
and is at least looking good and saying the right things so far. Kiki's
back is much stronger than in the past 2 years. Johnny Newman and Greg Butler
are gone. Newcomers(Free Agents) are Earl Cureton, Greg Grant, Tharon Mayes,
and John Starkes. Roster shapes up like this:
C: Patrick Ewing, Eddie Lee Wilkins, Earl Cureton.
F: Charles Oakley, Kiki Vandeweghe, Kenny Walker, Jerrod Mustaf,
Brian Quinnett. I'm sure there's another forward or 2 around
in camp, but I don't know who.
G: Maurice Cheeks, Gerald Wilkins, Mark Jackson, Trent Tucker,
Greg Grant, Tharon Mayes, John Starkes.
I'm sure there are others but probably not significant. The Knicks
have lost Sidney Green and Johnny Newman in the last 2 offseasons. Their
replacements have been Quinnett and Mustaf. Unless Mustaf really comes through,
the Knicks have let some value slip away. Some would argue that losing Newman
is addition by subtraction, but the guy had his moments. Also, rumors abound
about the Knicks dealing Mark Jackson, and other rumors swirl about trading
Oakley for an all-around forward, whatever that is. Mustaf has been looking
strong, according to some reports.
I think Mayes is there to see if he can supply some help at shooting
guard. Grant is a Spudd Webb-type waterbug. Earl Cureton is hopefully just a
practice body.

| I heard some Knicks spokesman (Silas?) say that the only untouchable
nontradable players on the roster were Ewing, Oakley, and Cheeks.

| I read a report in the last few weeks that the knicks may shop Oakley
around because he thinks (so says the report) that he should be #1 or
#2 option in the offense. Frankly, I don't believe it.

Six of one, half dozen of the other: I don't think Jackson was doing a
bad job, I don't think MacLeod will do bad either.
