128.1 | | AXIS::ROBICHAUD | The 49ers. A REPEAT performance. | Thu Jan 25 1990 16:02 | 10 |
| Just coincidence Doug. San Francisco was the best football
team in the 80's ditto the Lakers in hoops. In baseball the west
teams finally benefited from all those years of drafting high.
The 49ers and Lakers had good management, good coaching and a superstar
to lead them. Ditto for the Broncos, but while they've dominated
the AFC the last four years, they haven't won the Super Bowl yet.
I find it hard to see how geographical location has anything to
do with it. Good management is the overriding reason. JMHO.

| Actually, there has been a slight shift in the axis of the Earth.
This shift has been known to cause many things, including the shift
in the balance of power to be shifted to the West Coast.
Other phenomenon attributed to this event is an increase in pee-pee
smooching, onaneration, and a decrease in ObjectiveSportsAnalysis(tm).
Also affected is the abilities of flies to land on things/people.
Contrary to popular belief, JunkNoting(tm) is not connected with the
axial shift in the Earth's rotation. Rather it is dependent on
sunspot activity.
Hope this helps,

| Maybe what with that Axis shift (thought that was the manual
tranmission in WWII cars, myself), all the "good" players kinda
slid towards the Rockies, crunched on up until the sheer overflow
made them topple on down the Great Divide and towards the left coast.
The ones who hadn't reached the top of the overflow are still on
the eastern slope of the Rockies and, while awaiting their turn,
play for Denver and other nearby Midwestern teams. Some try and
take the southern route and head on down to Texas, where they utilize
that western slope to make easy going to Spring Training in Arizona.
Actually, don't a lot of the super-stars in sports like to decide
nowdays where they are gonna play? I mean, who was it that said
he wasn't gonna play for no body unless it was a warm-weather team?
I mean, if you had your druthers, and could pick where you wanted
to go, and whose offer to accept or not, one would expect to pick
a team located in say, California as opposed to Michigan, especially
if one has to play out of doors during a season when weather is
oft-inclement.....
Mebbe that has something to do with it. Maybe it's coincidencde.
Naw, maybe it really is the Axis Shift. ;)

In sports geography, anything is possible. Both the Atlanta Falcons
and Atlanta Braves are in the Western Divisions of their respective
leagues.
