| Fact: A minority, a VERY vocal minority, of Alabama supporters
have opposed the hiring of Bill Curry from the beginning.
Rumor: Most of these detractors are in an allegiance with former
player Lee Roy Jordan, who has become increasingly involved
in the Tide athletic program.
Fact: Curry had seemingly turned the Tide program around by
winning the first 10 games this year.
Fact: The Curry detractors have very loudly pointed out the losses
to Auburn and Miami, and have continued to put the heat on
the Curry staff.
Fact: Curry has been offered the job by the University of Kentucky.
He is currently at home in Tuscaloosa considering the offer.
Rumor: Curry will announce this weekend his acceptance of the Kentucky
position.
Rumor: Alabama fans will stop throwing bricks in Tuscaloosa.

Is this the same Lee Roy Jordan who was on the Packers?
I think Curry has done a good job. He hasn't beaten Auburn, which
counts for a lot down there I know, but on the whole, I think the
program has come a long way....

No, Lee Roy played for the Cowboys, after an illustrious college
career playing under Bear...
At least I think it was the Cowboys...

played for the Packers but I don't remember what school he attended.

Fact: Bear Bryant coached eight years at Kentucky and 13 years
overall elsewhere before he arrived in Tuscaloosa.
Conclusion:
Alabama supporters should accept Curry's background as they
eventually ;-) did Bryant's.
Opinion: Bill Curry sealed his own fate in Alabama the minute he
stepped on that plane to Lexington.

Ga. Tech grad. ^^^^^
It's the way of the south.

| opinion: Alabama doesn't deserve a class act like Curry. They need a
raving maniac like Danny Ford to reinstill the "football is bigger than
anything else" attitude that Bama fans want. I hope he goes to Kentucky
and takes them to the Sugar Bowl.

| My dad works at 'Bama. He says Curry, and sometimes his family, get
treated badly by the people that won't exorcise the ghost of the
Bear. He couldn't give me a reading on whether this is a majority
or minority of people who are hassling him. Chris hit the nail
right on the head.......the ones who are bashing him don't deserve
a class guy like him who runs a clean and successful program.
IMO, if they lose him, look for the Tide to slip.....

| Curry doesn't deserve the crap that the Bear Bryant Jihad (tm) is
dishing out.
It blows my mind that you can go 10-2, take a team to the Sugar
Bowl (and the SEC is the strongest conference in the country IMO),
and people still want to ride you out of town.
If I was Curry, I'd say to hell with the "fans", and get some peace
of mind with Kentucky.
And from what I hear, the Kentucky football program is as clean as the
basketball program was dirty.

| It would be a real shame to lose Curry. IMO part of what college sports
is all about is not just winning, but teaching sportsmanship, integrity,
and class. Curry I feel has those things.
Caffey is the guy that played for the Pack, thanks for refreshing my
somewhat senile memory....
Claybone, I agree!
I think Alabama has a heckuva year this year. 10-2, a bowl appearance
and a top ten ranking are things to be proud of.
I'll still root for Bama if Curry leaves, but they will be missing *a lot*!

Is there any word of a replacement? I hope we get someone who wants
to teach young men how to be better people through football, rather
than someone who will corrupt ideals just to win...
