| As the original basenoter, my eight year old is now fifteen years old
and playing high school baseball. He want's to purchase his own
catching equipment (chest protector, skull cap, mask, shin guards).
Any suggestions on where in the greater Maynard or Worcester areas to
shop for decent equipment (Rawlings??). I've checked MVP and Sports
Authority but their selection has been limited.
My son is 6'2" and ~195 lbs so he is definately looking at adult sized
equipment.
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

I bought some pretty decent stuff at Spag's Sports store last year, it
was Rawlings, adult catcher's gear (baseball). The selection was
limited, but I believe the price was better than at MVP Sports, Sports
Authority, etc.

I second Spag's ... the prices seemed reasonable to me.

103.14 | I would try Gibney's | FRSBEE::GROVES | | Thu Apr 03 1997 13:43 | 3 |

I would give Gibney's a call... If they don't have it in stock, they
can order it. It doesn't usually take that long.

| Thanks for the input.....I had already tried Spags, they had no adult
sizes in stock; cleaned out by local school teams.
Called Gibney's and he didn't sound promising on the chest protector.
The problem is that my son is 6'2" and needs a larger than average size
chest protector to give him shoulder coverage. Gibney's said that most
catcher's are going to smaller and hence lighter gear so finding a
"tall" chest protector would be a challenge.
Keep the suggesions coming.
