Hi, I have a customer who installed a DLT7000 on the native SCSI I/O controller on an ALPHAserver 1000A 5/400 . When booting the machine, he doesn't succeeed to reach the console prompt. Initialization is hanging on "waiting for pka0.7.0.2.0 to poll". When putting a DLT4000, polling is correct and we achieve console prompt. I don't know really what is the firmware level of the DLT7000. The customer tried to install the same DLT7000 on a 2100 native SCSI controller and it is polling correctly. The DLT7000 is equivalent to a DIGITAL TZ89, except firmware revision. Is the TZ89, today, supported on which platfoem ??? Thanks for your answer. Gilles.

What adapter are you using ? The TZ89 (aka DLT7000) is Fast WIDE Single Ended, oppesed to the TZ88 (aka DLT4000), which is Fast NARROW Single Ended. So, you'll need to have a KZPDA (or KZPSM), both Fast WIDE S.E. to get the TZ89 working. Not with a KZPAA (Fast NARROW S.E.) Furthermore, what cable did you use ? Hans |
