I have a customer who needs a small backup server for his environment. I'm proposing an Alphastation running NT. Their environment is: 9 HP-UX, 1 AIX, 1 Solaris, 5 NT Server Intel, 5 Netware Server. 140 Gbytes of total storage. They have a standard ethernet (10Base-T) network. My proposal is: Alphastation 255/300 running Windows NT 128 Mbytes of memory 2 RZ28 disks (one for NT, other for NSR) 1 KZPAA dedicated to a TZ885 TZ885 operating in compressed mode The customer needs the solution as cheap as possible. I'm not sure that my assumptions in the HW configuration are correct. 128 Mbytes of memory is too much? A dedicated KZPAA is really needed? Alcides This note is X-posted in the NSR conference

>This note is X-posted in the NSR conference And answered there too. Note 672.4. (The gist is, the 10BaseT isn't very fast, but it should be ok for this environment)

Yes, the network is the bottleneck. I have other questions: 1) Which SCSI controllers can I use with a TZ885-NT (table-top)? KZPSA-BB (FWD)? KZPDA-AA (FWSE)? KZPAA-AA (FNSE)? 2) What cables should I use in each case?
