3731.0. "Can we reuse a TSB07 as a TSZ07 on Alpha?" by SLICER::ROD (Paradise Awaits!) Mon Apr 21 1997 22:26
We have a customer with an older VAX BI machine with a TSB07-CA drive.
They are planning on adding two new AlphaServer 8200's. They need to
have reel-to-reel capability and would like to know if they can use the
TSB07-CA's.
Now, I found somewhere on our net that a TSB07-CA is actually a
TSZ07-CA with VAXBI adaptor, cables, cab-kit, etc. The question is,
is there a cable that would allow us to use the TSZ07-CA portion of the
TSB07-CA and connect it somewhere to the 8200? This could either be to
the KFTIA-AA or to maybe a KZPSA.
I talked to a Digital MCS guy, and he was concerned that the TSB07 is
differential whereas a standard TSZ07 is single ended. Perhaps that
is/is not a problem.
Is there any way to reuse the equipment by making a minimal investment
in new cables and/or controllers that they would be buying anyway?
Thanks in advance for your help.
