Specifically what are you looking for? If you mean WNT/Alpha,
then we have support today from NetWorker. Are you looking for Alpha
or Intel? What applications specifically? This is important since I
am working with some folks to get Cheyenne/Legato support for our
devices on Intel, and all the ammunition I can get helps!

I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me, but I believe
that the HSJ50 does support the TL89x libraries with V5.1 of HSOF.
As for VMS support, I believe that OpenVMS V6.2-1h3 is the first
version that will 'officially' support the 89-based devices.
Thanks,
Joe

| Joe,
The current requirement is for NT/Intel and my collegue Mark Fryer @olo
has more details of the customer stuation but basicly, the TL8xx libraries
are on the NT H/W Support List but Legato only support ATL libraries !!!

| You may want to check to see if the DIGITAL TL8xx will operate
properly with the ATL ID string. This should keep NetWorker for
NT/Intel happy.

Doesn't this involve changing the TZ8x drive Inquiry string to
DLT4000??

| The tape drive support should come from NT in some release or
service pack. The media changer is the problem, NetWorker for
NT/Intel knows about ATL libraries but not DIGITAL ones.

3725.6 | Yes and No | SUBSYS::alcor.shr.dec.com::smith | Apps Engineer | Tue Apr 22 1997 17:37 | 18 |
| Hi Folks,
I am aware of this issue, and am currently working this with
Mark Fryer and Chris Battista who has contact with Legato.
Yes, it is a simple matter of switching the jukebox ID string
(documented in a manual that ships with the library), but no, the
recognition of the TZ88 isn't as simple since, unfortunatly Legato
has taken the stance that they want to see DLT4000 as the drive ID
string...
Roger, I have been working with Chris Battista, who has
contacts at Legato, but since you have so much experience with Legato
and our DLT drives, could you please send a quick mail message to
myself and Chris Battista on why Legato ought to support our drive?
Thanks,
Joe
