My distributor is having some problem while upgrading the existing TZ857 drive to TZ887. He has ordered the part number TZ887-UN the upgrade kit as mentioned in the Novemebr'96 SOC page number 6.86. While attempting to upgrade TZ857 it was found that the kit is for upgrading the TZ877 not TZ857 unlike what is mentioned in the SOC. Please let me know if TZ887-UN is an appropriate kit to upgrade TZ857 to TZ887. If yes can you briefly describe the contents of this part TZ887-UN and briefly describe the process to upgrade. Thank you and kind regards. PAtro

There is no upgrade to go from a 5 stacker to a 7 stacker. The other upgrades keep the stacker device and you upgrade from the 87 unit to an 88 unit.

re: .1 A useful bit of information, but not necessarily relevant since the TZ857 *is* a seven slot loader; TZ85 drive, 7 slots. A TZ875 on the other is five slot with a TZ87. re: .0 Or, .1 could have a very relevant point and you typed the wrong part number...

The part number is TZ887-UN for upgrading TX8X7 to TZ887. The only caveat is the loader must be rev E03. I believe this has to do with routing the cable from the loader control module to the TZ88. Paul Gildemeyer CX03 Vendor/Tape Support |
