Hello,
I have a problem on a WinNT system where the time to verify
is 3 to 4 times that of the backup time.
The customer is using a TZ88-DA connected to a STD I/O
module in an AS2100 and using it in compressed mode.
Running tests on data, executable files copied from the
backoffice cd to a directory on the c drive gave similar
results to that which the customer experiences.
I have run the same test to a TLZ07 and the backup and verify
times are quite close to each other.
The customer has service pack 5 installed
I would be grateful for any pointers on the above

You don't have a problem. It is working exactly as designed. The TZ88 doesn't like start/stop motion. The verify pass reads a record, reads the disk, does the compare, and starts again. This takes enough time to cause the TZ88 to reposition after every cache full. The TZ88 takes a few seconds to reposition. The TZ88 takes a much longer time to reposition than a TLZ07 does. The solution is to stop using verify on most of your backup operations. A verify now and then, coupled with a few test restores should be enough to test your backup process and protect your data.
