I can't help with the firmware, but your customer is probably talking
about Seagate Exec software; see the Seagate Web site
(http://www.seagate.com) for more information about their products.
This software, I believe, was created by Arcada, which Seagate bought.

| Hi,
Storange, I received very similar request from our customer today.
He has COMPAQ 2500 system running WindowsNT V4.0 and having problems
with TZ885(SWXTL-CL??) during backups.
He is also using SEAGATE EXECUTIVE BACKUP software and being told to
update TZ885 firmware but his case up to version V5.1[CC33] or higher.
My question: How to check his current TZ885 firmware version?

The TZ885 firmware version can be read from the Windows NT
registry. Look in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HARDWARE
DEVICEMAP
SCSI
Scsi Port x
Scsi Bus x
Target Id x
Logical Unit Id x
At the end of the Identifier field is the version.

http://whatsa.shr.dec.com/~specs/tape/TZ88/ also has F.W. there but
V52 is the latest.

If your customer has problem and needs FW that DIGITAL has not
released, open IPMT case. It'll be dealt case by case.

As T mentioned in .5, if you feel another version of code is needed, log an IPMT case.
