Have a Customer that received Medium/recorded entity not found errors a/s/ascq 1400 ON A TKZ15 TAPE DRIVE during a SCSI SPACE command. What does this normally indicate, specifially? I realize just the explanation leads you to believe that the tape drive does not recognize that the tape is there, maybe someone can give me some logic as to the conditions that have to be present before the tape sends back this error. Thanks, Julian

.0 "recorded entity not found" might indicate that the drive is looking for something, which he did not find ON THE TAPE. The command is SPACE (either BLOCKS or FILEMARKS) and during this spacing the drive got fussed. I do NOT believe this error is the ONLY you have seen. Normally you might these type of errors, when the drive has some WRITE or READ problem. (Could have been the drive, where the tape is written). Could ALSO be the tape itself. Suggestion: troubleshoot as medium/head/cleaning(??) related problem, Jan Visser. |
