I have a customer looking at StorageTek silos for use with Digital UNIX and
Alpha 8400 systems They also have SUN systems.
They want to be able to exchange data via tape cartridges between both systems
using StorageTek silos. Does the REEL software on the Alpha system use the same
format as the REEL products on SUN?
The REEL software is a 3rd party product. It is briefly described in the
StorageTek connectivity to DIgital UNIX documentation, but there isnt much
detail.

If they haven't already bought the StorageTek and don't need anymore
than 20TB why not look at our TL8xx series and get full support on the
Alpha. Not only that but I have a few customers using the TL on Sun as
well.

re .1
Yes, but is the data format compatable?
Hardware is hardware, but the data feed is probably different.

NetWorker provides a common tape data format on the various UNIX platforms allowing for the limits of the "enhanced" file systems that are all different. | |||||
