A customer has two Prioris HX with SCO OpenServer 5, Mylex RAID controller and TLZ07 DAT tape. When he uses 120m tape, the backup program very often shows media errors or hangs. When he uses 90m tapes, he almost never has this problems. On one server the TLZ07 has already been replaced. Compression is not used at the moment. Are there any known problems with 120m tapes ? Thanks for any info. Josef Jetzinger MCS Austria

You are saying: media-errors. Does SCO log any Sense_key/ASC/ASCQ codes for them? As far as I know, there are NO known issues with 120m tapes. The DIFFERENCE between 120m and 90m is that the 120m is DDS-2, which allows 2x the capacity on a a 1.3x longer tape. Seriously consider your Head Cleaning Procedures for the drive.
