This note is from an field engineer that has a problem with the early version of TLZ07-BA. He has ordered three new TLZ07-BAs and has not been able to get them to work on the AS1000 running VMS 6.2. ********************************************************* Subj: tlz07 revised rev a5 ED, In revisiting this Tlz07 adventure it appears that on the revised rev a5, unless you have a remote scsi id switch all the drive setuo is dome using the dip pack on the bottom of the drive. In this case I was reconfiguring the jumper pack after having removed the customers rev a2 by the setting on the rev a2 dip switch. Wrong thing to do . So my question is this if the revised version a5 comes factory configured with pins 15,16 Termination power jumper-on enabled. Do i need to disable it ? The rest of the jumpers are as follows. 1-6=off disabled 11-12=off disabled 15-16 =on enabled The EK-tlz07-om manual pages 3-4 thru 3-6 dont address jumper 15-16 in a replacement mode. The system is an Alphaserver 1000 single bus with active termination at end of the bus. Any thoughts Regards Greg Feinberg ********************************************************************** I have not been able to come up with the information. Any ideas? Ed Burkhalter CSC Atlanta

It must be my Dutch, which causes me problems understanding the real issue, except the Term Power: The TLZ07-BA (as they come in) have the Term Power Jumper IN (and it's the only jumper installed) for the newer-style Rev A5. I have replaced several TLZ07-BA's in AS1000's lately (all A5's) I and just left the Term Power jumper in. But with the jumper removed, it must still work, because the SCSI-port in the AS1000 delivers Term Power for the far-end terminators. For the Rev A5's in a AS1000, The SCSI-ID's can be set by the switches OR the jumpers (it's wired-OR'd). Default: Leave the ID-jumpers out and use the switches for ID-setting. (all this is labeled on the drive). Not sure about the statement 'that it did not work'. WHAT did not work? Jan |
