This is cross posted from SLS notesfile:
Hallo,
one of my customers wants to setup his TZ88 to be driven on a HSZ40
controller as a jukebox, but in the spd I cant find anything
mentioned
about that type of controller.
Is there any reason behind?
Or is it the same setup than on HSJ ??
kind regards
Volker

The setup is notably different in a few ways. On the HSJ you
add the loader, then a pass-thru and finally a disk unit. On
the HSZ running the firmware you add either a passthrough or
a loader (I don't remember which) and then associate that with
a logical unit. The tape side is similar.

TAPE140 passthrough tape 1 4 0 P0
DEC TZ867 (C) DEC 4318
LOADER867 passthrough loader 1 4 1 P1
DEC TZ Media Changer 4318
The other problem is one of support and to the best of my
knowledge SLS hasn't tested with HSZ connected tapes. I
don't think any of the VMS Storage Management products that
deal with tapes have tested with an HSZ.
