I have a desperate customer willing to pay anything we request to retrieve data from a partially overwritten tk50. From former notes i know that tape engineering used to have special drives with special firmware to do some magic on such tapes. How would i proceed to get this formally escalated? Whom should i contact, and what will it app. cost? -- Thilo

We don't do it here at DIGITAL. There is a note in here that talk about external company who provides the service, I put it in but can't remember what the name. As for drive that read TK70 tape, the last one that does it is TZ87 (not TZ87N). T.

Today i got a callback from this desperate customer. He's so desperate that even mentioning a minimum charge of 5,000 DM didn't shock him. So, maybe the name of a product manager, engineering manager could help me, but pleeeeease give me something!!! -- Thilo

The DLT ( including the TK50 ) bussiness was sold to Quantum. Digital doesn't have the ability to solve your customer's problem any more. I suggest you or the customer contact Quantum to see if they can help or point you to someone who can. Steve P. |
