It's been a few months now, but I was able to spend a little extra time on a TZ867 that had given the "All LED's off except Power Led" symptom. I had heard of this symptom in the past with a few customers, and had seen the "don't slam the door" Blitz. What I found was that I could EASILY reproduce the symptom, and, EVERY TIME, once it had gone into the above state, a Power OFF/ON seemed to be the only way out. All you do to lock the TZ8x7 up is to open the door slightly instead of all the way, and then close it again. Sounds almost microcodish (?), but it could be a mal-adjusted switch - I don't have any in-depth info on these drives either, so I can't dig much further. I think most of these failures were TZ867, so can't comment on 857 or 877 - perhaps the same applies, perhaps not. At least it was REALLY easy to reproduce the problem - and explain a workaround to a customer (who might otherwise be requesting a new loader unit). Les Benbrook, MCS Brisbane |
