739.0. "Lalo Schifrin" by HANDVC::STEVELIU () Sun Feb 09 1997 22:35
With the launch of "Mission Impossible" the movie, his music
has now been better known by the movie goers.
I have been collecting his music since the 1960's, he has
won awards and have been nominated for grammys 6 times.
He is most noticed for his composition for TV series,
in particular, "Mission Impossible" plus other favorite
prime-times in the 60's and 70's such as "Starky and Hutch",
the "Medical Center", "Mennex". His notable movie scores
include Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon", Steve McQueen's "Bullit",
Clint Eastwood's the "Dirty Harry" series and Paul Newman's
"Cool Hand Luke".
I think his music is revolutionary, his music has been so long,
has still a big impact to the audience at large and sounds
as fresh as you heard them 30 years ago.
His music is generally been classified as Jazz (you probably find
his records in the jazz or movie soundtrack sections) but his
musical influence crosses boundary.
Do you have any favorites of his ? let us dedicate this note to
Mr. Lalo Schifrin.
