| | Rhino has just released "Yardbird Suite", a 2-CD compilation of Charlie
Parker. It draws from multiple labels, including Savoy, Dial, and Verve.

I hope to pick up the set this evening. I have high hopes that this will
be the fitting introduction to Charlie Parker that has never really
  existed...

Bob Blumenthal in the Boston Globe noted one caveat: it uses master takes
exclusively, which means the more famous alternate versions of a couple of
tunes, such as Embraceable You, are absent.
(Blumenthal also praises the new 3-CD compilation of Tito Fuentes, culled
with Fuentes' help from over 100 albums...) - Jay

Whoops - thanks for the correction.

Everything I've heard of his was big band oriented, which isn't generally
my preference, so I've been slow to check 'im out. - Jay
P.S. Picked up the Bird anthology, and the cut list looks
sensational... It may live up to its title, "Ultimate
Collection". It begins with Guild/Musicraft singles
(Groovin' High, Dizzy Atmosphere), then moves along to
Savoy, Dial, more Savoy, Verve, and so on. Finishes with 4
Bird & Strings cuts. (Verve sessions may be a tad
             underrepresented.)
The accompanying booklet is substantial in itself, looks like
             another good job by Rhino.
