| Hi Folks,
Has anyone out there built their own CO2 system using a fire
extinguisher, Beer carbonator tank, etc? You know, the kind of system
that maybe you could get on a limited budget. I've been absent for a
few years, and am now getting back into fishkeeping. The CO2 system
seems to be important, and I would like to hear other people's experiences
using it. I plan to have a planted aquarium with some fish to give it
some more color and fertilizer.
Thanks for any help,

Jim,
I built three for our planted tanks using 2" PVC.
Used one end cap, then 24" of PVC, a female threaded
end, then a male threaded end, then 4" of PVC, then the
last end cap. Total length is about 36", and the unit can
be used vertically or horizontally. I used PVC glue for all
the parts, with exception to the threads, I used thread tape
after the ingredients were added.
A air valve was fitted to the short PVC (then 8" of PVC,) to
facilitate the Co2 line to the tank. If you need the recipe
for the Co2 ingredients, reply to this note and I'll put it
in.
