    A north grafton veterinarian who whacked a canada goose with a 
    golf club on Cape Cod was charged yesterday with cruelty to animals.
    
    Dr.Richard F.Rodger 49, will be summonsed into Falmouth District Court
    next week to answer the charge brought by Falmouth Animal Control
    officer Melissa Berryman.
    
    Berryman cried fowl when witnesses at the Ballymeade Country Club 
    told her Rodger used his golf club like a baseball bat and let the
    goose have it in the noggin Sunday.
    
    Rodger has admitted striking the goose but said he golfed the
    bird in self defense.
    
    The goose named Matilda, was knocked out cold and suffered severe 
    damage to one of her eyes.
