    Found.  - 26-Feb - Passing lane of 495 north (during rush hour!), at
    the Rt 20 exit.
    
    Male, neutered, all-black, shepherd mix (shepherd silhouette), between
    4 - 6 yrs old, about 72 pounds.  Very sweet and unaffected, he came right 
    to me, lay down in the back of my car and chilled....  1 orange collar, 
    1 choke collar, no tags.
    
    Very good condition, slim, toenails clipped, healthy coat, inquisitive
    disposition.
    
    He's with the Marlboro Animal Control officer right now.  He has 6 days
    left there...

I have a wonderful Australian Shepard that I must give away.  I got Blaze
in October of '96 at Buddy Dog in Sudbury and was told that he was 3.5
years old.  Blaze is an awesome dog ... except that he has started to get
WAY too possessive of my grandson ... to the point that when someone comes
into the house, Blaze needs to be restrained.  Noone can get near Terrel
without Blaze nipping at them, growling and, in general, making them
very uncomfortable.  Terrel's Mom is even getting a bit scared around
Blaze when she needs to discipline her son.  Not good.

Blaze would be perfect in a house with a couple of adults and not a lot
of activity.  He's completely housebroken (has NEVER had an accident in
the house) and has had all his shots.  He's a brown merle (sp?), weighs
about 35 pounds and  is very clean.  He knows the basic sit-stay-come
commands and, with the right family, would be a great watch dog (he's
very alert).

If no one takes Blaze, he'll be brought back to the shelter by the end
of this week (3/8).

We will be moving soon, and have come to the regretful conclusion that we will
not be able to take our dogs with us. 8-(  So I am posting here in hopes that 
you all can help me find good homes for them.

Kaleda is a four year old black Lab and a perfect little lady.  I don't think 
she's pure as she has one white toe.  She is a graduate from puppy kindergarten
and obeys all commands.  She's a little guy-shy, but if any person (man, woman,
or child) will throw a ball for her, that person becomes a friend for life.  
Fetching balls is a passion of hers.  In fact, "ball" was one of the first 
commands that she learned.  She loves the company of her family.   She gets on
well with other animals.  She has even  been known to lay next to her bed 
instead of evicting the cat!  Her name is derived from the Lithuanian word for 
Christmas.  The one thing that Kaleda does not do well is travel.  She's fine if
she sits in the front seat, but put her in the back of a station wagon, and you
can be sure there'll be a mess to clean up.  Kaleda is approximately 45 lbs. and
is spayed.  All shots are up-to-date.

Bandit, my daughter's dog, is an 11 month old bundle of energy.  He is a mix of
Springer Spaniel and White Lab.  As his name suggests, he wears a mask.  His 
colors are all white except for brown mask, ears, and a smudge under his tail 
that looks like, well, you know. 8-)  Bandit has not had formal training, but he
does know sit, come, and down.  His puppy enthusiasm, and a lack of my personal 
time, have kept him from fully grasping the concept of stay and wait.  Bandit is
a camper who makes friends easily.  He is the only dog I've ever known to escape
from a back yard and come sit on the front porch to be let in!  He'd rather find
the family then run the neighborhood.  Bandit's favorite past-times are stealing
Kaleda's ball, thus establishing a game of Tag, and hiding his water dish.  When
he has settled down for the night, he is happiest if he has someone's foot to 
use as a pillow.  Bandit is approximately 45 lbs. and is not expected to get any
bigger.  He has been neutered and all his shots are up-to-date.

Just an update on 10.580.

    You don't say where you are located but if you are in the
    Mass/NH/Vermont/Maine area you can call the Labrador Retriever Rescue,
    Inc. at 508-369-8736 and tell them you have a Labrador to place.  They
    will ask if it is purebred.  If it is 90% and looks like and acts like
    a Labrador, just say yes.  They will help place 90% Labs if they look
    and act like a Lab.
    
    It is a wonderful group and I have done home studies for them as well
    as financially helped them out.

	Given that you are not looking for a purebred, might I suggest
	you check with local All Breed rescue groups or with area
	shelters? The MSPCA on Rte28 just over the state line is one
	that I know of in particular. We adopted our first dog from
	them (she was with us for 15 years) and the last time I was
	in NIO, I noticed that they were still there.

    An elderly neighbor of mine just lost her 18 year old poodle, and her 1
    year poodle is very lonely (I know my neighbor's sad too). I told her
    I would try to help her find a new dog, and am getting info on poodle
    rescue leagues for her.
    
    If anyone knows of a poodle that needs a home (I don't know the
    different names of the sizes of the breed, but she's looking for a very
    small one -- in the 8-15 lb range), please let me know.  I think it makes
    sense for her to get an older dog, rather than another puppy.

	The idea of an older dog is a good one. 

	The best source I could find on Poodle Rescue is the National 
	Coordinator. Call the Poodle Club of America Helen Taylor,(713)668-1021,
	Texas. She can probably refer you to a rescue group in your area.

      This is really hard to do but I need to find a home for two of my
    dogs right away....It's a long story.  the dogs are wonderful a brother
    and sister, almost 2 years old.  I really want them to stay together.
    
    Bubba, fixed, about 150 pounds,  Rottie/Lab and his sister Daisy,
    spayed, about 70-75 pounds.  they are both extremely lovable,
    reasonably well behaved.  they need a fenced in yard since they have
    never been on a run.  They currently share a huge fenced in yard with
    my older dog Nikki and a pup.  Daisy is extremely nosy and playful and
    Bubba just loves to love you, he's a real moose.

    Finnish Spitz "pelle" on death row.   When my wife was walking the dog,
    she stopped to say hello to the little girl next door, age 10.  The
    little girl was sitting on the street, petting Pelle and then put her 
    arms around the dog's face to give it a hug.  The dog did not react well 
    to this and bit the girl on face.  As required, the dog is being boarded 
    at the Vet's for 10 days to watch for signs of rabies.  We don't suspect 
    rabies as the dog is current on all shots, etc.  After the 10 days,
    which end on Monday, June 2, the dog will be put to sleep.
    
    The dog's history is:
    
    Age:  Almost 5
    
    Parents:  Mother and father were show dogs.  Mother was Elle
              Spitzgerald, a Westminster champion.
    
    Mother's behavior:  a nipper.  Nipped my wife when she went to pick up
                        Pelle as a puppy.  
    
    Father's behavior: unknown
    
    Early years:  spent 4 months at the breeders living with other pups
                  before we took the dog.
    
    Cats:  We have 3 cats which the dog mostly ignores.
    
    Kids:  will defend food.  Does not like strangers to get down at eye
           level, i.e. get down on their knees and handle the dog.  Has
           a beautiful amber coat which everyone wants to touch. 
           Generally, is not a problem.
    
    Health: good, 1 knee operation
    
    Behavior: generally affectionate and playful but will nip when
              defending food or when feels threatened by strangers.
    
    
    Future:  As we have lots of youngsters running in and out of the house, we
             have decided that we can no longer keep the dog and worry
             about future problems.
    
             If you are an experienced dog person or are familiar with the
             breed, and would like to provide a home given the above
