If you are having a problem ESCALATE IT or it won't get fixed.
The problem in that other note is not resolved and I have not been able
to find out why or what the exact configuration is. But the base
configuration as shipped is supported so ask for support through proper
channels. IF something is found, myself or others involved, will post an
update.

| Re .0, i'm forwarding your note to the appropriate people who are
working on the issue. Please advise if this is a customer unit or an
internal one.
The work-around that i have had to resort to while awaiting a
resolution is to use another Wide SCSI adapter. The QLogic is an
Ultra-Wide SCSI adapter.
I'm also experimenting with turning off the Ultra mode of the QLogic
adapter to see if that would improve the behavior. That is clearly NOT
an acceptable resolution since one would not want to pay for an
Ultra-Wide and to use it as a Wide. Nevertheless, this is part of the
steps i'm trying to help isolate the cause. I'll post the information
and result when i'm back in the office next week.

6725.3 | KZPBA/RZ1CB Incompatibility Work-Around | DECWET::VOBA | | Mon Jun 02 1997 21:07 | 10 |
| Re .2, i disabled the Ultra mode of the QLogic (KZPBA PCI-to-Ultra SCSI
Host Adapter) using the EEROMCFG utility that came with the DPW 500a
and the RZ1CB became fully operational (albeit non-Ultra). To disable
the Ultra mode, select the menu item "Enable (F)AST-10 on all devices".
As i said earlier, this is NOT an acceptable resolution of the original
problem. It is only a work-around until the StorageWORKS and WBS folks
could figure out what went wrong in the first place.
