6722.0. "Capacity left on TZ88 tape" by CGOOA::FEDDEMA () Tue May 27 1997 16:04

    Is the command to determine the remaining capacity of a tape supported
    on the TZ88? THis command works on the Quantum equiv but when used on
    a TZ88 the drive always returns a zero.

	What command does it use? I'm guessing that it relies on
	a log or mode page, so you'd need something that sends a
	SCSI Log Sense or Mode Sense command to get the data. If
	the data is available in our versions of the drives. I
	think the question has been asked recently either here or
	in MAGTAPE (on STKHLM::), so there might already be some
	information around.
6722.2New feature..SUBSYS::TRANStraight <Left> Hitter..Thu May 29 1997 16:4010

    Yes.. This issue has been responded several times. Current shipped FW
    on TZ88 products is V52 which doesn't include this feature, the next
    release is V80 (soon) will have this feature enable. Basically, the
    fields are after standard REQUEST SENSE data. This info only available
    when there is no Check Condition when REQ SENSE is issued.

    TZ89 has this feature enabled. But not TZ87 with current shipped FW.
