Note 9858.0 SWXCRMGR & character cell terminals No replies
SANITY::PCUMMINGS "The perfect democracy" 16 lines 16-MAY-1997 18:13
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We've recently acquired AS4100s based DUnix TruClusters with only
character cell console terminals (no graphics heads). Found that we
had to run SWXCRMGR from floppy and had a heck of time with the utility
because it was slow, but worse, the output from the SWXCRMGR utility
was barely readable! Many bogus or 'substitute' characters are printed
in the process. Also, appears there are many substitute commands
required when using a character cell terminal (i.e. Cntrl B = F2, etc).
I want to believe that some of what we saw was because of incompatible
terminal settings.
Does anyone know where this stuff is well documented?
thanx
/paul

If you are using a character cell terminal then you should use the
serial line version on SWXCRMGR ---> SRLMGR.
This should help your display problems and also reduce you init times,
note 6418 gives some more details.

No, it is on the same floppy as swxcrmgr. For serial line access you use slrmgr. Nothing to do with Operating systems. Pjotrr | |||||

The SRLMGR is the serial line (character cell) version of SWXCRMGR
which is run from the >>> prompt, (ARC run a program).
