6703.0. "9Gb drive FR-CFCBA-CA compatibility with AHA-7880P" by MEOC02::VIETH () Mon May 19 1997 19:54

Hello,

	We have a customer who has purchased a PRIORIS MX6200 it contains an
Adaptec 7880 ultrawide SCSI controller on the mother board. Its firmware
revision is v1.24.01. The customer, reseller and myself cannot successfully
install windows NT4.0 onto our  9GB drive (FR-CFCBA-CA / RZ1DB-VH).  It hangs
on rebooting after installing NT onto it, or it says operating system not
found. I have tried using two of these drives both with the same symptoms.
Are these drives compatible in this configuration?
	I have successfully installed NT4.0 on a RZ29C-VW without any booting
problems. We have also been instucted to turn off Ultrawide mode becuase it
won't even copy the files down successfully at all.

    Roy,

    I'm running the same config right now. No problems and it is supported.
    It actually works fine at U-SCSI speed too, so you may have another
    problem.

    Peter.

6703.2MLB revision suspect.PCBUOA::WHITECParrot_TrooperTue May 20 1997 10:306

    Check the revision of the MLB......the supported version for Ultra
    SCSI at ULTRA Speeds is Version D..... We have seen some rev C
    MLB's in the field and have not a clue how they got there.

6703.3Trouble getting rev requiredMEOC02::VIETHFri May 23 1997 02:2018
Hello,

	I have spoken to two sources, one being our regoinal support engineer
Darren Seiver, which tells us that the part to order is a rev D02/D03. The
rev D01 we had in the machine does not work. We got the customer going
temporarily by adding an Adaptec 2940UW to the internal box. When we ordered
back on the 8th a revision D02/D03 54-24580-01 we instead are shipped a rev
C01. Apon checking our wharehouse in Sydney we find that they have 3 x rev
C01's and are reluctant to order a rev D02/D03 until I can present them with
something in EM format stating that this revision is required. Have you
possibly got something that we can give our logistics people? Or where can we
find this article? Our support engineer seems to be uncontactable with
respect to this.

Regards,

Roy

6703.4Try REVCON firstGIDDAY::LUSTENHOUWERset success=work_as_team/permSun May 25 1997 06:1724
    Hello Chet and Roy,
    	         	I think I can help with this one...
    The logistics system called REVCON (Revision Control) shows that the
    minimum shipping rev is D2 for a 54-24580-01 Etch F1. Please ask your
    logistic folks to check REVCON . If you still can not get one give me a
    call and I will ensure you can get one of the appropriate revision.

    For anyone who is trying to understand what revision you can expect to
    receive from the logistics system go to this URL and type in your part
    number. http://piper7.jgo.dec.com/~revbin/revcon
    Here is the output for your 54-24580-01 (notice there are two different
    Etches). You should be able to get a rev D2 minimum with D3 being the
    latest.

6703.5Supposed to have been fixed.PCBUOA::WHITECParrot_TrooperSun May 25 1997 07:147
    We do not know how the rev C anything leaked out the door. Logistics
    has stated that as of a week ago, the inventory has been purged and
    D2 is there now.

    If you find otherwise, please raise it to us.
