6677.1KZPSC "Out of Memory" error on 4100NNTPD::"[email protected]"Mike CarltonFri May 09 1997 14:5527
Opps...Hit the wrong button...

I have a problem with a KZPSC on a AS4100 when a third party card is
installed. The machine is in manufacturing and is up to current rev (5.28
console). The card is a DCI-1100 from Logical Company (www.logical-co.com).

 The problem is that the KZPSC raid manager, both stand-alone and under
OpemVMS 6.2-1h3, reports an "Out of Memory" error when initializing the raid
array. The problem will go away if a third party PCI card is removed. The
card passes all diagnostics without problem indicating that the card is
functional.

I have passed this by Logical and they indicate that there are no known
problems with this card. It is used on numerous Alpha machines including
as8x00, as2100a, etc. The 4100 has 1 Gb of memory and the KZPSC has 32Kb
Cache memory.

Has anyone had any experience with this? What does the "Out of Memory" error
really mean?

This is a big $$ order and we need a solution asap.

Thanks

Have you cross-posted this note in the AS4100 notes conference ?

KZPSC does not issue an "out of memory" error. Sounds like a
system level error, may be an incompatability between KZPSC and
this third party board (what third party PCI board is installed ?)

6677.3Started with stand-alone SWXCFGMGR is why...NNTPD::"[email protected]"Mike CarltonTue May 13 1997 13:1014
No, as teh problem 'appears' to originate from running the SWXCFGMGR utility
stand-alone or under OVMS6.2-1h3 only, I started here. If the utility is not
the origin of the error message then it might be the 4100. The message
appears on the top of the video display, black on red. It reads

DEBUG - Out of Memory, resetting system, press any key to continue.

Why would the SWXCFGMGR cause this if it were not a problem with either the
kzpsc or the utility itself?

Cross posted to 4100 as well.
