Hi', we a serious problem on an ALPHASERVER 2100 5/250 OpenVMS 6.2 The Raidset disks connected to an HSZ50 in dual redundant configuration went in "MOUNT VERIFCATION PROGRESS" during the night. After 1 hour the disk went in "MOUNT VERIFICATION ABORTED". The only way to re-mount the HSZ50 raid disk is to reboot the two HSZ50. Only this disk are inoperative, all the other devices are ok During the night the Customer mades backup to a TZ88 table-top, and other cleanig-up procedure on the RAID disk were the application database resides. If this procedure doesn't run in the right way, all the activity is damaged. The backup procedure start around the 10:20 pm. and the "mount verification in progress" appened around the 10:45 pm. and it is logged in the operator.log After 1 hour the message "mount verification aborted for dkb.." is logged on the operator.log too. The A2100 is connected to an SW300 whit two HSZ50 in dual redundant configuration, via a KZPSA FW/DIFF at FW rev. A10. The EMU unit is installed too. The total RAM of the A2100 is 640 MB. The TZ88 is connected to the A2100 not on the HSZ50. The OpenVMS 6.2 AXP is installed and the patch ALPSCSI02_070 too. Decevent didn't log any error message, only the time-stamps and the dismount message of the tape. The HSZ console hard copy dosen't log any message during the OpenVMS mount verification message and the raid disks remain on-line to the HSZ50. The two HSZ50 are running HSOF 5.0Z-2 sotfware Ten days ago we changed the KZPSA on the A2100 and moved the TZ88 table-top from the SCSI on-board to a KZPAA SCSI controller, no other device is installed on this new scsi bus. After this time the problem appened again. How it is possible that a "mount verification" isn't logged by ERRFMT in the errlog.sys ? May be it is caused by a non-hardware error ? Does anyone can geve me some advice to look into this problem ? Any suggestion is welcome !! Thanks Leonardo MCS Field Service Engineer.

You might want to IPMT this so we can get some logging drivers involved, but you state that you have to reboot the HSZ50 to remount the raidsets after MVTO. Is this true? Or did you mean you need to reboot the nodes? Also, you state there is nothing in the errorlog. You mean nothing for either the DK or PK devices, right? If the KZPSA port is not online (being reinitialized) then you will get SS$_MEDOFL returned from the port driver (PKS) to the class driver (DK). In this scenerio, it is likely that you will not see errors logged. Mark d. |
