6655.1 | only (4) 9G drives supported | SUBSYS::WOJDAK | | Tue May 06 1997 11:40 | 9 |
| The MYLEX controllers can only support a maximum of 32Gig Logical
drive size.This means that the maximum number of 9Gig drives that
can be used in RAID 5 and RAID 0+1 configs is 4.The overhead for the
RAID brings the LOGICAL size under 32Gig.
A new RAID LOGICAL drive needs to be created if you have more
drives.

This is for Firmware 2.x only I assume?
The Mylex FR-PCTAR-Ex as shipped/sold by the PCBU with the current
rev. of firmware v3.xx supports system drives as large as 2 Terabytes.
The StorageWorks equivalent which as far as I know is still at firmware
v2.xx (v2.36? or v2.52?) could have this lower limitation.
So using 9GB FR-CFCBA-CA and FR-PCTAR-Ex gives you the possibility to
to go 8x9GB=72GB using normal RAID sets or with a Superdrive group to
16x9GB=144GB in size.
(The 2 Terabytes is just an arc. limit. You are still limited to 8
disks in a RAIDset or 16 in a Superdrive group)

PS: This is obviously Intel/Prioris only.
