This one should fall under "Truth is stranger than fiction" Customer wants to rackmount a RAID450 in a SW800..no problem.. Then he wants to come out of the SW300 using a DWZZB-VW to a tabletop DWZZB inside the cab to a TZ88 loader also in the SW800. Tried to do a config to order with ba350-mb and ba356 shelve et al. and hang the tape loader off one of the HSZ FSE channels but he doesn't want to deal with all the part #s (the customer is always right!). So is this type of config supported/qual'ed? Any suggestions? Regards, Brian

To clarify, if you are attempting to attach a cable from the HSZ50 instide the RA450, I do not know how since a connector does not exist. The tape devices are not supported inside the RA450 either. If you are attaching a shelf to the SCSI bus from the Host in a daisy chain fashion, this shoudld be standard stuff and ofcourse will require a DWZZB at the tape end. Hope I answered you question. Brian, I can assure you that we've never tested this from an FCC viewpoint. Has SVT ever tried this? Maybe, but not officially. Let me see if this is your configuration - SW800 with a BA355, a DWZZB-VW in one of the drive slots. A cable coming out of the DWZZB-VW going to a DWZZB-AA (that may be sitting on top of the BA355). Then a cable going up to the TZ885 or TZ887 that's mounted in the top of the cabinet. (This cable probably is 68 position at the DWZZB and 50 position at the tape loader.) Is that it? If so, I'm sure it's not FCC/CE qualified..... unless CSS did it. We have not tested anything like that here in CXO. Bill | |||||
