Just a quick sanity check. I have a customer that currently has a
single HSJ40 and wants to install another for dual-redundancy.
Instead of running another set of CI cables, I have suggested that
he acquire a tri-link connector and cable kit, so that we can daisy
chain the HSJ40s and use the single set of CI cables.
His VAR is telling him that the tri-link is only supported on HSDs
and HSZs.
I believe the tri-link is also supported on the HSJs. The procedures
for replacing controllers and write-back cache mention the tri-link.
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

Your VAR is correct; Tri-Links are only used in HSD and HSZ
configurations. HSJ's need the CI `pigtail' and cannot be
daisy-chained.
