6620.0. "AEMI versus fault mgt" by JGODCL::BRINKS (Peter Brinks, DTN 7889-9458 Logist. Eng/Tr Nijmegen) Thu Apr 24 1997 08:51

    What is the difference between
    the DACCF parameters
    	AEMI (automatic rebuild mgt)
    	and
    	fault mgt.

It seems like AEMI should be enabled while running GAM, but
this seems to be no explanation to what it is actually doing ..

AEMI is a standard once defined by Intel and then Conner.
It uses a special interconnect from the Mylex to the
	Storage cabinet.
This in contrary to the StorageWorks fault management that
simply uses the SCSI cable itself.
They are two different "standards" to allow the Mylex in this
cause to find out status of disks, insertions etc.
You can ignore the AEMI what Digital storage concerns.
(StorageWorks/SBU and PCBU both use the StorageWorks Fault Man.)

This does not explain why the AEMI parameters seems to affect
    the GAM software installation.

Ahum, in what way do you see the AEMI settings effect GAM?
Can you explain this in more detail?
