6589.0. "steamd VS getty" by TKTVFS::KABASAWA (Katsuhiko Kabasawa MCS/JAPAN) Thu Apr 17 1997 01:09

Hello

My customer has problem with SWCC agent on Digital UNIX.
/usr/sbin/getty for console line has been died(never wake) after logout from
console.
I removed following line from /etc/inittab and reboot system, then it works
fine.(This means SWCC agent does not start, right?)

	steam:3:wait:/opt/steam/bin/steamd > /dev/console 2>&1

So i think "steamd" affect "getty".

System configuration is:

	AlphaServer8200 + KZPSA + HSZ50(HSOF V5.0) + VT510 for console
	Digital UNIX V3.2G + Japanese V3.2C
	SWCC agent V1.1

How can i resolve this problem?
Has anyone experienced?

Thanks in advance

/kaba

6589.2Escalate it!!ZUR01::SUTTERWho are you ??? - I'm BATMAN !!!Wed Apr 23 1997 13:4811
    We have seen similar things happening when 'steamd' was running on
    a system. At one occasion, the LAT ttys would not "respawn" on a
    system that was running 'steamd' (a V4.0B 4100 System that was).

    Make sure you have the latest kit available and if the problem
    persists, escalate it through MCS up the chain! Only this way we
    make sure it will eventually be fixed.
